They would of course hold concerts etc during the summer when pitch is not in use. at the Emirates we had concerts like Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen and the pitch is always in a great condition.
i think where OS is situated and the ease of getting to it (compared to the journey to Wembley) will mean there will be lots of other non football events held there.

It could be a new dawn for West Ham. They are already pushing for a Europa spot and having beaten Spurs 3 times last season (and just missing out on a 4th victory in 5 recently) They could be the next team to where the power shifts to from Spurs (LIverpool having claimed the first power shift from North London according to HIAG's logic) <ok>

We seem to be discounting the impact that Southampton are making this year. Do we think it is a one off or are they also a force to be reckoned with.

perhaps the power shift is among the older medium sized clubs, with the old order of the likes of Spurs, Everton, Villa, and Newcastle about to be overtaken by the new order of the up and coming clubs like West Ham and Southampton

Dont u think it's great to discuss the new order of football rather than the mindless wumming that normally fills these forums.

No. You'll have to do better, I'm afraid. Villa and Newcastle have been the old order for some time, and will remain so under their current ownership. Everton, given their limited resources, have punched above their weight for a few seasons - not this one, though. West Ham have proved nothing so far.

Koeman has certainly surprised a few people this season. Especially given that Pochettino was given the plaudits for Southampton's success last season. Even losing almost half of their first team, Koeman has managed to replace those players and still keep his team above the club that his predecessor left for. I think there could be a really tough battle for the Europey spots this season, with West Ham, Liverpool, Man Utd, Southampton and Spurs all in the mix. But it could be that the North London power shift is Spurs relinquishing more ground to the likes of Southampton (as well as Liverpool who according to HIAG, have already secured the power shift)

The sporting events have to be sandwiched in somewhere and repeatedly covering the pitch during the summer will have a damaging effect on it.
Arsenal use theirs once or twice a week, like most other clubs. They don't play rugby or cricket on it or chuck javelins into it.

I saw Peter Crouch attempting a diving header at the Emirates last season, that was almost the same thing.

Aren't West Ham above all the teams mentioned except Spurs !
if season finishes with all the teams in the same position then hasn't the shift in power already happened (as per an early post from Hiag)
so the new order of medium sized clubs looking to be a top 6 side will now include West Ham and Southampton, with Liverpool and Spurs aiming to be in top 4.

the order of the big clubs is at present Chelsea, City, Arsenal, and United and that is likely to continue as they have the highest revenues

I believe they take the pitch up so it won't get damaged

If Southampton retain their position above Spurs and finish the season above them, thereby shifting power from N17 to the South Coast (according to HIAG's logic), then HIAG would also have to conclude that Spurs got the wrong man in Pooch and should instead have gone for Koeman.

How many places does the PL get in the Europa League and where in the PL do you have to finish to qualify as aren't West Ham in position to do so

I agree that WHU are having a great season - for them. But, let's not lose sight of their previous record. One season does not make a silk purse from a previous sow's ear!...

Yeah, as I said earlier, at the moment the top 2 seem to be Chelsea and City. Current favourites for the other two places are Arsenal and Utd. Spurs, L'pool will be trying to break in there. Whether either Southampton or WHU can maintain a top 6 challenge, remains to be seen - and I don't just mean this season.

But isn't that the whole point if this thread - has a power shift happened and if so where.
I think the answer is yes it has but not between Arsenal and Spurs, but it had happened between the medium sized clubs and their pecking order.

3 places, one for 5th, one for the Capital one cup winners and one for the FA cup winners. However if the FA cup winners also finish 5th then the 6th place team get the other place in the Europa league, same rules apply if the the Capital cup winners finish 5th.

If the FA cup winners finish in the CL places then I think the extra place goes to 6th ? So in this scenario, for example if Arsenal win the FA cup and finish 3rd or 4th, then both Southampton and Liverpool (on current PL standing) would get the Europa spots. If Chelsea win the Capital one cup, then maybe the extra spot would go to 7th ?

Last season you'd have been saying the same things about Everton. Where are they now?....

And Spurs could also go the same way whilst they have a new stadium to pay for. Will Spurs need to find a temporary home whilst it is being built

So West Ham would need to finish above Spurs to get into Europe next season?
