Bloody suits tinkering with the laws of the game again. They should just do away with offside and be done with it.

Soccer's rules could change forever before the 2026 World Cup. The reason? The ‘Wenger Law’ has resurfaced — stronger than ever.

Arsène Wenger, FIFA’s Director of Soccer Development, has pushed forward his proposal to change the offside rule, as explained by former Spanish referee Eduardo Iturralde in his column on Cadena SER radio.

️ “This time, from what I’ve been told, it might actually go through. Between the end of October and December this year, the committee of experts and technicians will study the proposal. There are 23 players and 11 referees — and the head of that group is, precisely, Wenger,” said the ex-referee.

⁉️ What does the rule change propose?
It aims to favor attacking players:

Wenger’s idea is to give an advantage to attackers who are closer to the opponent’s goal than any defender. A player would be onside as long as any part of their body that can legally score a goal (excluding hands and arms) is in line with any part of a defender’s body.

In short: a more attacker-friendly offside rule that could completely reshape the game.
