Well if Roy Hodgson can do it .. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/25240112/lennie-lawrence-hartlepool-premier-league-chris-kamara/
Referee hat on: I can understand the RC: studs up; straight leg; over the ball; way past the ball. Player hat on: No malice in attempting to win the ball, just caught the player. YC. Referees don't play competitive football as adults, that's one reason why we end up with sanctions like this.
Similar thing in St.Mirren v Celtic game the other day. St.Mirren forward lunged foot first trying to connect with a low cross into the Celtic box - unfortunately at the same time that Joe Hart dived forwards trying to catch the ball, and copped the boot full in the face. An unfortunate "coming together" I thought, certainly no malice intended and the forward had every right to try connecting with the ball. After viewing the incident from various angles and in slow motion, var alerted the ref and a red card followed for the forward. A bit rough on him I thought - he was only trying to do what he's expected to do - but I suppose had I been Joe Hart I may have thought differently.
I see that the Plymouth player who scored their equaliser against us - Azaz - has left them. Finished his loan and went back to Villa, who then sold him to Middlesbrough. So he'll have another chance to torment us this season...
Watched Udinese lose at home to Lazio, 1-2. Bang average from Lazio, very high centre of gravity their players have so a typical Italian match with Udinese not having the confidence nor the wit to beat them. Masina, Pereyra, Success, Davis, all played today.
Luton held by Bolton - fancy the Trotters to win the replay too. Bristol City go to West Ham and get a draw as well. Obviously better on the road than at home.
Got me beat how the HT score in the Arsenal v Liverpool is 0-0 - Arsenal's attack is more wasteful than ours and Liverpool's defence, like ours, is very shaky.
That was a great game of FA Cup football for the neutral. Hope we don't get Liverpool in the next round.
Liverpool away would be good for us........and we would get tickets as we belong to the NW Hornets fan group
The Birmingham managerial merry-go-round continues - they've appointed Tony Mowbray as Rooney's replacement. Wonder how long he'll last?
After the death of Mario Zagallo at the weekend another World Cup winning player and manager has died. Franz Beckenbauer aged 78. Before my time but a legend of the game .
Sad to hear . No surprise he is trying to be positive and realistic about it all . https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67942943
Turned over from the ICT v Dundee U match to see how Burnley were doing against Luton - couldn't believe how bad they were, making Luton look superior. Was just about to change back again when Burnley scored - making my day as they did so...
