The better team won. Faster to the ball, well-organized in defence, and sharper when attacking. No doubt though it will inspire young girls to get out and play the game.

I don’t think there were robberies in this World Cup. The Americans were not that great, nor the Germans. Well neither lived up to reputation. The Australians had a go, and played with heart, but lacked finesse (only Kerr looked like she could play in a World Cup-winning side). The Swedes were good, very physical, but also lacked finishing (except the cracker in the 3rd/4th p/o). The correct teams were in the final. The Spanish played lovely football, passed and moved, hunted savagely for the ball when possession was lost. We had chances, but it would have been against the overall run of play. The finish for the solitary goal in the final was superb. Blame should not be placed on Lucy Bronze (as commentators seemed to), she’s been told to play up the field, but we didn’t cover and the finishing of the Spanish girl was sooo precise. They deserved the win, we deserved to be runners-up.

No you can't blame Lucy, if she had released a pass a few seconds earlier and it resulted on an attempt at goal, she would have been praised. If fact her run was one of the few bits of inspiration England had. The best team won, we did not seem to be up for it today, sadly. Good game.

She was caught out of position because she did no pass the ball soon enough and the Spanish girls made full use of the space she had left behind her

At time I thought Am I actually watching Watford because they made the same basic mistake we often do

Such a shame as this was their only bad game
