Never going to live the manager situation down are we? Basically the first line on MOTD from the commentator on Leeds v Palace was “this is a clash between 2 ex Watford managers which isn’t unprecedented “
Certainly aren't. I went to my local for a quick pint last night - the topic of conversation was the sacking of the Hearts manager Robbie Neilson. A run of five losses had seen them slip from third to fourth in the table - realistically third being the highest any team other than Celtic or Rangers can aspire to. Everyone agreed the sacking was a ridiculous decision - and one guy piped up with "Who do they think they are - Watford?" I resisted temptation, quietly finished my pint and left.
The board like ours probably heard and saw the fans reaction . It was quite hostile and toxic . Just shows we aren’t the only ones that do “harsh sackings”
I think the problem for Hearts fans may be that dropping from third spot will probably mean that they miss out on European qualification next season. With either Celtic or Rangers guaranteed a spot in the Scottish Cup final, and the other spot going to either Inverness or Falkirk, it's almost certain that one of the two will win. As they are untouchable in the top two League spots, whoever finishes third will qualify. At the moment that could well be Aberdeen - Matty Pollock might fancy some of that and ask for a permanent transfer.
Which would be a shame. I rather liked what I saw of him. A bit naïve at times, but he was strong and seemed to be able to think.
Scunthorpe fans must be gutted - consecutive relegations see them drop into the National League North for next season. I remember the first time I saw them play - they had just dropped out of the old Division 2 and we stuffed them 5-1 - in my naivety I had expected a hard game because they had been in a higher division. There but for the grace of Pozzo...
Football league is a real slippery slope these days...so easy to drop out....and then it could be oblivion.....
I think he knew what was coming when claiming Pep or Klopp couldn’t work with the Reading squad and get results !
They couldn't work with ours either - or the vast majority of EFL clubs. They're both fine when their club owners can afford the cream of the crop.
True - Pep particularly would go mad at seeing players flailing miserably trying to play his fancy style of possession football . I mean they do anyway!
Matthew Southall, Paul Richardson, and Maxi Lopez have all admitted to breaching EFL Regulations in respect of the Owners and Directors’ Test (OADT) following their unapproved involvement with Birmingham City Football Club in 2022.
League 1 football for Birmingham next season or season after if they hand out the same punishments as theyy did to Derby
They were involved at Charlton too I think . Don’t think they will get punished as a club because these guys didn’t take over in the end .
