The doctor idea might cover that - have the culprit immediately stretchered off the pitch to undergo a compulsory ten minute medical assessment before being allowed back on, with his team playing a man short. If there's nothing wrong with him, he gets a yellow card before coming back on. You can't be too careful with injuries these days...
I've cautioned players for simulation long before it was a thing. There is a catch-all: "anything else not mentioned that is against the spirit of the game" (or some such). Trouble is everything is micro-managed now which merely creates problems. Quite glad to be out of it if I'm honest.
I remember this : “In Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic, Chelsea have been forced into making two substitutions in the first 22 minutes of this match, the earliest a side has subbed two starters in a Premier League game since Watford v Crystal Palace in December 2016 (14th min)” Was the Zaha v Harry Hornet match.
Never seen the ground at Chateauroux full before tonight. Not an empty seat in sight. PSG have sent a second team, which looked at if that would be too much for the local part-timers. 13 minutes and PSG take the lead, which seems to have spurred the locals on. 37 minutes and Chateauroux to wild rejoicing equalize. Yes it was a big deflection off a defender, but the shot went in. Just before half-time the part-timers almost took the lead as another shot shaved the post. I imagine there will be stern words in the Paris dressing room for the next 15 minutes. Can our local team keep it up though?
Yes, they ran out of steam a bit in the last 10 minutes. If only they played like this every week, they would be top of the league.
2 excellent games on the BBC. Wrexham win 4-3 at Coventry whilst George Byers’ Sheffield Wednesday beat Newcastle in a very entertaining game .
Crazy offside decisions at Anfield Firstly Salah not being offside becauyse it came off a defender.. That is the rule... but IMO crazy. But secondly the disallowed Wolves third.... can see no evidence off offside and nor could anybody else from any angle bar the linesman... whata waste of VAR
I argued the Salah one with Matej, “…when the ball was played, Matej!!!” until he he proved otherwise to me, to which I did the usual ‘Dad refusal to back down’ “Well, that’s bloody silly!!!” I will try to be more a mature human being today.
Was a bit like umpires call in cricket (which some have called for in football) where they cannot find proof the decision was wrong so had to go with the original call. Like wise the Salah goal was going by the laws the officials have to follow even if people don't like it. Agree it is a silly and unfair law /rule as it’s harsh on the defenders.
Sounds like they really went for it and kept going right till the end. Chelsea are a pale shadow of recent teams - injuries don't help them but certainly don't seem to have the squad depth to compete despite spending miillons again. No doubt Potter will be the one blamed and sacked soon.
I think I can remember a penalty not given for handball against LiVARpol because the defender did not play the ball intentionally, seems there is a reluctance to give any decisions against LiVARpool in case Klopp has a meltdown on TV
