I wonder what young Liverpool fans would say if you told them Ian Rush is their record goal scorer and cost 300k from Chester. They probably wouldn't understand how much that is and know where Chester is!
Good result for Taunton last night in the cup. At the end of the game of the game two of the Yeovil players had to be separated as they squared up to each other.
I followed it all last night NZ - my son was in the stadium (my three children all live in Somerset). Ten years ago Taunton were in the Southern League West and Yeovil were in the Championship playing Watford. The Cup still has a lot of magic for clubs at this level with packed stadiums (nearly a stadium record at the Cygnet Healthcare Stadium last night) - Yeovil have always been number one in Somerset now everything is turning on its head down there. Now it's Franchise Dons in the first round proper.
I see the possibility of a European Super League had raised its ugly head again - now hoping to start in the 2024/25 season.
Probably will never go away unfortunately. The PL clubs won’t be allowed to though by their fans unless they really go against them which well guess might eventually happen !
Might be another management vacancy soon in the West Midlands. Gerrard booed by the Villa fans and didn't clap them at all after the 3-0 defeat at Fulham. Mind you a bit unlucky with a red card and penalty decision at 1-0. Sounds like Fulham totally deserved to win but sometimes you need luck on your side too.
Let them go as long as the FA keep their promise to exclude them from the Premier League Then when they get tired of pointless games in front of no fans the Football League might let them join the National League provide they get a majority vote Could be the best thing for football in this country, No Sky and no Big SIX
I guess they will play such games in countries where tourists and fans will turn up. That will be the next step. Playing games abroad.
Reminds me of 1970 when Watford did the double over Villa away from home and they never recovered and went down to the old 3rd Division The tabloid headlines were Aston Vanilla the team everyone loves to lick
We did the double over them last season too - maybe that shows what an average team Villa really are despite spending millions. Another big team in the eyes of their fans who feel they ought to be doing much better...
Both are sort of right . Celtic should have had a penalty but then Hearts had an obvious one too only given after VAR check .
Bournemouth will be going as red as their shirts in the face over decisions like tonight’s. But then they often got away with a lot under Eddie Howe .
And tbh the first goal was right by the letter of the law .. An unfortunate one maybe but only the goal scorer can be pulled up for a handball . As for these penalties- well it’s a lottery for all .
