A friend, who supports Newcastle, told me that the Saudis would have preferred to have bought a club in London, where they already own a great deal of property. He believes that they may now be regretting their purchase of Newcastle when the opportunity exists to buy Chelsea.
Well he might just be glad this wasn’t in place ! https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...siders-adding-human-rights-to-new-owners-test
The cynic in me says that that is destined to fail anyway - under the existing rules, Bassini shouldn't be anywhere a football, never mind a football club, yet he is.
The one thing I will say in a very limited defence of these russian oligarchs is that if they did, erm, pipe up (geddit??) about putin then he'd probably off them before you could say Salisbury Cathedral! I have absolutely less than no sympathy with billionaires and their "problems" TBH. Zero degrees Kelvin sympathy!
I wonder? Mystery as another oligarch is found dead in Surrey: Police are called after Ukrainian-born tycoon's body is discovered in mansion in 'unexplained' tragedy. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...y-discovered-mansion-unexplained-tragedy.html
So should Chelsea via Abramovich have their assets frozen, this would be rather interesting as many of them appearing on the balance sheet would be players. Would they be no longer be able to sell them to raise cash?
Scotland's World Cup play-off match against Ukraine next month has been postponed, Fifa confirm in a statement. It adds: "Fifa expresses its deepest solidarity to everybody affected by what is happening in Ukraine. A further update will be provided in due course."
The Everton fans won't be impressed, I'll bet they didn't expect a scoreless first half. . Richarlison on for Everton - things might brighten up for them.
Well that disallowed goal which was rightly ruled out going by the current laws of the game won't matter now. Just as well as we'd never hear the end of it if Boreham Wood had somehow got back into the game. Good effort by the Wood though.
