It's finally happened that I now officially own a part of a football pitch. The local sports club ASC Loope (pronounced Loper as opposed to Loopy) needed a communal action to buy and layout a new football pitch - and I am now the possessor of one square metre of it. Apparently despite owning this I am not allowed to grow spuds on it !
My wife owns a similar sized plot of a Highland estate near Helmsdale in Sutherland. The benefit to her is that she can use the title Lady...
French football is already mainly in the winter break. There are a round of games in Ligue 1 on Wednesday, but January 7th before it starts up again.
It's not yet an issue in Germany and the Netherlands Mark, and no games are being postponed. Though in The Netherlands they are playing in empty stadiums and in Germany only a third full. This doesn't help me much with the predictions league because many European leagues begin their mid winter break this weekend.
Not sure what I'm allowed to do on it Frenchie. Our names get put on the plaque showing all the sponsors. My wife has the plot next door to mine - both out on the wing. So maybe we can have a small joint barbecue on it Many of the adjoining plots belong to the fire brigade which could be usefull !
The take up on vaccine is, unfortunately, lower in Germany Mark - the rate of testing also. However I think that all football club players are vaccinated. There was an international player - Joshua Kimmich who refused it but Bayern have well and truly twisted his arm on this, and lambasted him for the example he was setting.
In today's match of the day Taunton are 1-0 up at Chesham with a goal from Jared Lewington (no relation of Ray)
It's not as big an issue here but is still being viewed as serious, even though the infection rate is lower, and vaccine/booster roll-out is further advanced than in England. Things may change after this weekend - there's been a lot of disquiet over the two matches in Glasgow, Ibrox today and Hampden tomorrow, being allowed to go ahead. Add to that the anti-mask march in Glasgow today and the infections numbers could rise during the week. If they do significantly, I'd expect the SPL winter break to start next weekend rather than the weekend after.
Certainly was very pro Spurs it could be argued with the decisions made . Kane not sent off ,Liverpool denied a penalty and Robertson sent off (probably fairly but so should have Kane ) After some good weeks earlier in the season the VAR/on field refs seems to be making errors again or certainly strange decisions.
Yes - and in the Robertson incident, he never even said a word to the rather large Spurs defender who rushed in and violently pushed Robertson over as he stood up. That warranted a yellow in my opinion. Mind you, the cameras ignored it too - they all focused on replaying Robertson's tackle from multiple angles.
They do seem to get distracted, BB, I agree. It’s like the S18 GBH (not a postcode ) Pickford inflicted on Van Dijk last year - was there an offside before the attack or not? That was like police looking at CCTV footage of a bank robbery and concentrating on whether the getaway was parked illegally or not.
