I wasn't sure who I wanted to win today's Arsenal/Spuds match - didn't want Arsenal to overtake us in the table, but didn't want Spuds to open up a gap ahead of us. Not in my wildest dreams did I think Arsenal would be three goals up before half time...
This was on the BBC site : “Has anyone been Manager of the Month one month then sacked the next? Asking for a Portuguese friend in North London” Vlad Ivic last season ?
I rather like the comment I read, which referred to Spurs being at the top of the league after three games: “It’s like an elephant up a tree - you don’t know how the **** it got up there, but you know it has to come crashing down.”
Watching a bit of the Palace v Brighton game, it suddenly struck me that Hughes hasn't played for them yet. I wonder why?
Probably unsurprisingly the 3 remaining Super league clubs will get no punishment from UEFA. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58714235
A bit of a legal minefield in which lawyers are probably the only winners. Along with the recipients of brown paper bags stuffed with cash of course...
Biggest shock win in the Champions league ever for Sheriff beating Real in Madrid ? Pep was right to be scared of Messi then in the Oil Derby.
FC Barcelona has already been forced to offload Lionel Messi in order to keep its balance sheet down. Now it’s been told to keep those bills at a lower level than Premier League newcomer Watford F.C. Spanish league LaLiga has set new limits on squad spending, capping Barcelona’s wage bill at 97.94 million euros ($114 million), LaLiga managing director Jose Guerra said in a news conference Thursday. The closest comparison in the U.K. Premier League -- the world’s most lucrative soccer league -- is Watford, a mid-level team that spent less than the 111.2 million euros, according to company filings.
That was an excellent headed goal by West Brom to give Stoke the lead. Unfortunately disallowed though - looked like a poor decision by the ref.
Then they missed a penalty too. But have just gone in front finally. Ben Willmott enjoying another promotion push?
I suspect the Pozzos were looking at how Brentford have come up and performed .. And wondered if we do the same .
In the latest episode of Eufa's idiocies they have forced Ajax to change their third kit for European matches The third kit is a tribute to Bob Marley and contains the rasta colours together with the 3 stars of Amsterdam and three little birds (from the Marley song which is always played before kick off) - maybe they interpret the Rasta colours as being a political symbol or the three birds as a threat to their authority ! At any rate it is apparently not allowed to have anything on your shirt which is not either club related or sponsor related. In situations like this they will jump in waving the book but will allow the likes of Man City or PSG to get away with any financial irregularities they like. The response from Ajax was - this has to be a joke.
Suppose this means Newcastle won’t be batting relegation when the deal happens ? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58821131
A Brazilian footballer has been charged with attempted murder after kicking a referee in the head during a lower league match. Sport Club Sao Paulo player William Ribeiro attacked Rodrigo Crivellaro after he awarded a foul against him on Monday. The match against Guarani was suspended in the second half and Crivellaro was taken to hospital.
