I wonder if the fans views would be taken into account or brushed under the carpet? Clearly regardless of what VAR is getting right or wrong match going fans certainly aren't enjoying the experience of it all. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51375410
Andre Gray and Marvin Sordell on this programme about racism and other forms or discrimination in football. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/article/1dd50528-435a-41fd-ba9f-9f955a819751 We were the only PL club to be represented which is a little sad when there is a big push to rid the sport of such issues.
please log in to view this image I would guess that a similar charge is made by the PGMOL for supplying the VAR officials at EPL games. Money well spent?
Completely different subject here but changes could be on the way for some of the leagues in Europe. Talks are well under way over the creation of a BeNeLeague with the top 10 clubs from the Netherlands joining the top 8 from Belgium in a new league structure. Such a league including Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV, and the big 3 from Belgium - Anderlecht, Bruges and Standard Liege would have much more muscle power in terms of TV revenue and could, eventually, overtake the French League in terms of its EUFA ranking index - effecting entry into the Champions League. This appears to be the only way these smaller leagues can compete with the big 5 in terms of revenue, and in terms of keeping their players. Unfortunately such a league would not have a second division - which would be very hard for those not included such as Breda so it's another case of the big clubs benefiting at others expense. There is also the question of promotion and relegation - what happens if eg. 3 Belgian clubs are at the bottom - do they have to be replaced by Belgian clubs ? The other problem is that neither land has control over the hooliganism issue and this new league throws up several high security risk matches. In the past coordination between the Belgian and Dutch police has been problematic. Is this a model for the future ? Such ideas as a Scandinavian League (including Finland) or a central European league including Austria, Switzerland and Hungary have been mooted in the past. What is clear is that something has to change. Ajax fans were infuriated at finding themselves as Champions yet having to enter the so called Champions League at the second qualifying stage - playing against other champions (ie. PAOK Thassalonika) at that stage - whereas the 4th placed club from Italy automatically went into the group stage (Atalanta Bergamo). The result is that the players from clubs like Ajax, Bruges etc. have to start their seasons earlier than others - this, combined with international competitions in South America and Africa meant that many of their players had no real summer break.
Thanks for that cologne, I had not seen anything about it. When my son-in -law was working in Belgium he often said that policing there was a bit of a joke with three different forces. They don't cooperate with each other let alone one from another country. I wonder with all the international fixtures that do take place, both national and club, can we expect the players to stand up to the constant travel, in fact do we need it. Some of the larger clubs in the EPL are moaning about the call on some of their players for national duties, and this could have an effect on them winning titles and cups in England.
The bit in particular I ‘liked’, cologne, was the ridiculous idea of champions being ranked lower than runners-up in a so-called ‘Champions’ League.
Their game at Man City is off. Good job Sheffield United. Actually means we gain a point on Bournemouth. Now if only we can re-find our form!
