Looks as if Big Sam is on his way out of Everton and could be replaced by Marco Silva. Silva is the front-runner to succeed Allardyce having been Moshiri’s preferred appointment when he sacked Ronald Koeman on 23 October. Hopes of a swift transition may be complicated, however, by a legal dispute between the Portuguese coach and Watford. Watford sacked Silva in January following a run of one win in 11 matches. The club claimed in a statement that an “unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival” – Everton – led to a significant deterioration in Silva’s focus and results. The manager believed he was sacked prematurely and that he is owed six months’ salary, £750,000, and remains in legal dispute with his former employer over his settlement terms.
Sad news - ex Villa and Bolton defender killed in a car crash aged just 37. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44127716 Sound like a young player who was given his chance at Villa by GT who could have gone further but for injuries.
Notts County hard done by in both games due to poor refereeing decisions ! No wonder Kevin Nolan was going mad. Let's hope the big games coming up aren't decided by such things.
I see that No. 50 for Chelsea today is a Chalobah. I wondered if there was another one. It seems that there is. https://beta.chelseafc.com/en/teams/academy/trevoh-chalobah I see he will soon be out of contract. Just saying!
Definite penalty and should have been red card (last man), but I don't like to see Chelsea players appealing for the red card, poor sportsmanship imho
Apprantley it depends if there is a genuine attempt to win the ball as to if it's a yellow or red card.. Nice leaving present for Conte ? Man U's England players were rubbish - hope it's not an omen !
Isn't there the triple jeopardy rule, so that if it is seen to be a genuine attempt to win the ball, then the offender can't be sent off?
The sanction of the yellow card was correct as it was a penalty and not serious foul play or endangering an opponent.
Udinese currently 1-0 up v Bologna. As expected Crotone are struggling at Napoli with Udinese up to 13th as it stands.
Great day for Brackley Town. First ever visit to Wembley for the FA Trophy Final. Losing 1-0 with only 2 minutes of the 90 left, they scored to force extra time. No further goals, so it goes to penalties, which they won 5-4. Bromley must be gutted.
Arsenal are set to appoint Unai Emery as their new manager according to the Beeb. He has done well with PSG, but they had a far larger budget than any other team in Ligue 1.
According to reports the Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been given Israeli citizenship. His visa to enter the UK had expired and a new one has been delayed, so he had to miss the Cup Final, but as an Israeli he can enter the country for short periods without a visa. Either we want him in the country or not, but will it make him consider his holding in the club? I suspect he will find ways to keep his hands on approach to running the club even if he has to appoint someone in name only to be looking after it.
A couple of months ago, he was awarded Jersey housing qualifications but the UK visa issue has meant that they may be revoked.
“Chelsea Football Club announces today that it has put its new stadium project on hold. No further pre-construction design and planning work will occur,” a club statement read. “The club does not have a time frame set for reconsideration of its decision. “The decision was made due to the current unfavourable investment climate.”
