Colin, love him or loathe him, has a better grasp of the LotG than most managers... I'll offer an opinion when I have seen it. Don't subscribe to murdoch's media so will let you know....
When co-hosting on TalkSport in the morning with Alan Brazil, he regularly corrected so-called expert pundits on the Laws. In fairness to him he did it in a nice way, suggesting how he wasn’t a fan of it (the Law in question), but this was how it was. It’s funny how so many professionals don’t know the Laws. Notably, and it wasn’t funny so much as embarrassing, was Uwe Rosler arguing passionately as a Sky pundit that someone was offside but he patently didn’t know the Law AT ALL, leaving the host and other pundit (can’t remember who they were) in the awful position of having to correct someone who was, at that time, a very ‘up-and-coming’ manager. It was proper toe-curling.
Managers don't try to learn the laws I suspect - they just demand everything goes for their team and when it doesn't surely the officials must be wrong. However there have been a few clangers in recent weeks - maybe like the players claim to be the refs are tired from the rush of matches over Christmas?
BTW I see Wolves are running away with the Championship title and credit to their players and manager but.... Will Martin Samuel be complaining due to their large overseas imports (with the odd British player) that they are ruining British football? No-one seems to be making any negative fuss about them... Is that because they are a "big club" or spent 15 million on one player which shows "ambition" rather than having a lot in on loan?
Like many a fan, I suspect. One thing I found really noticeable last night, far more than normal, was that every time a City player lost the ball in a tackle and/or fell over, the crowd howled their displeasure at the ref. I dare say we can all be guilty of that at times, but I just found it over the top last night.
Oh yes - as I say some decisions are shockers but we all get a bit one eyed and just pipe up about how bad or good a ref is depending on the decisions made. Just look at this on the Swansea site - guess there wasn't any issue with the officials from Saturday though! https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/forum/215251/bobby-madley-and-his-assistants/#20 At least the lineman apologised for the Spurs first goal - did we get one?
I imagine there is some sort of coverage of the laws on the coaching courses, but I doubt that there is anything other than notification of changes after they are qualified.
I would have thought that, as for any job that requires qualifications, continuing professional development would be a no-brainer though.
Interesting how Wenger sees all this decisions against Arsenal! Sunday was harsh - tonight the ref brought the dive by Hazard.
Sunday was another Mike Dean outrage, I thought. My sister was parodying him in a silly voice “No, I never shy from tough decisions!”, which made me laugh as he sees this type of decision-making (controversial and difficult, albeit wrong) as a strength, the cock. I thought last night’s soft, but if you kick someone’s foot without making contact on the ball first, then it’s a foul, whether it’s in or out of the box, whether or not the victim acts like he’s been taken out by a CIA sniper.
Again something VAR could sort out but Wenger didn't seem very convinced by that and its not 100% perfect. BTW Apparently Wilshere was a bit lucky himself not to get booked for a dive which would have been a 2nd yellow... No-one really calls out these players for diving which doesn't help. Certainly agree on the handball - no intention at all and if we get those given each week we will just see players kicking the ball at the defenders hands.
Former Watford "star" ? http://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-cardiff-set-to-announce-deal-for-former-watford-star
2 cracking goals at Wembley - and thankfully West Ham didn't take a win! That is my main worry about us - we along with Stoke must have the weakest defence so not sure we can nick a win or point against the odds.
When asked if his four-and-a-half-year Stoke reign was under threat, Hughes replied: "Who else is going to do it?" Source:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42537005 https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ughes-failure-organise-motivate-stoke-players At least now he’s going to get an answer to his question.
I think that sort of showed his arrogance which annoyed the fans. He had done quite well at Stoke in the past but they just seemed to have lacked something this season. Still beat us though! Good business by Liverpool - buy a player for 75 million they really need and sell one for 142 million who didn't want to be there.
