I seriously hope that Swansea implode against us on Saturday the way they imploded against Liverpool - they were dire. The spirit of Christmas is all very well, but that was just ridiculous.

 

I know Liverpool really wanted this guy but the fee is still eye-watering!

I'll bet Celtic are spitting chips over that fee - they sold him to Southampton for £13m.

 

Does that confirm a certain player has been sold to Barcelona I wonder?

 

They'd be mad to sell him I reckon.

Mind you, they're mad to pay that much for van Dijk in my opinion - but maybe that's why I'm not a manager.

 

Apparently, there's a sell-on clause so Celtic will be getting 10% but I'm not sure if that's of the £75m, or of the £62m profit. Either way, it takes them further away from the rest of the SPL.

 

And I guess that will have Rangers spitting even more chips. But that's what happens when your marquee signings come from Accrington Stanley.

Unusual to see Klopp going along with this, big spending is not really his style but they have been missing a central defender for a long time. Whether Van Dijk is worth that much is another matter, I would have been more tempted to find a replacement for Mignolet, who doesn't inspire anyone with confidence.

 

Unfortunately with all the money swilling around in the Premiership, a player is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for him no matter how vulgar that is

 

he paid buttons for Oxlade Chamberlain right enough. Absolute joke of a club and a clown as manager. Loving it.

 

To be honest Dan I would take Kloppo as our manager any day of the week.

 

Not in a million years - they are a perfect fit and I am enjoying every minute of it.

 

Had a quick look at Newcastle v Man City. Newcastle have lined up just to defend and the game has been played at walking pace most of the time. City have had 90% of the ball. If I had paid good money to go and watch this I would have asked for a refund.

 

18 League titles and 5 European cups ? Not bad for a 'joke' of a club. Admittedly they haven't won much since the Premier League was formed (apart from the Euro Cup that is), but then Man. Utd hadn't won anything for the 20 years previous to that - these things happen. What Klopp has done is to bring the adrenalin back and get the crowd going, which is what Liverpool need. He also does not believe in building from the back, and they have an entertainment value now which is second to none. Champions League placing, through to the knock out stages of it, already been in 2 cup finals - and all with a team mostly built by Brendan Rogers - not bad for a clown, and there is more to come.

 

Newcastle seem to do that in most games I think.

I see Colin is complaining that the referee wrongly ruled out a goal for offside when the pass deflected off a defender. Surely Hoilet was offside when the ball was first struck before it was deflected?

I don't know what Fez might say, but I'd be sending a copy of Rule 11 to Colin, with a note asking him to read it before attending any more matches.

 

I asked Fez as I know he is a qualified referee, but I am sure I am correct as you appear to imply
