They had someone from Ford & Warren on SSN. It's to do with when Ken Bates was owner, so why did it take so long to serve the petition?
Ched Evans is training with Sheffield United. Will they go against public opinion and give him a contract? I guess he would argue time has been served and he has a "right" to continue with his life/career but do they need him as such baring in mind the abuse and hassle they'll get.
My view is who says that once the sentence has been served then everything is OK. In my book the prison sentence is only part of the punishment. The other part is public opinion. I would not pay to see an "entertainer" who is a rapist who shows no remorse. It's all part of the consequences of committing the offence and have huge support to the Sheff Utd community relations officer who has been a victim of sexual abuse in the past and is resigning over the issue.
Good points, Marks! I think there are several points here. I do believe that once a sentence is served that people should be allowed to move on... However, that depends on whether there is contrition, which I believe there is not in this case. Conversely, it is not his fault if the Criminal Justice system has dealt with him too leniently, which is also something I believe to be an issue here. I don't believe that there are quick easy answers for these situations - they have to be taken on a case by case basis. TD seems to have made a major mistake, was punished and showed contrition. Do we have a problem him playing in our colours? I don't. Compare and contrast with Marlon King. Had he learnt his lesson after his spell inside before his time with us? I thought so at the time, but now it appears as though he hadn't. Would I want him or Evans playing in gold and black? No.
"The Italian is the highest-paid international coach, earning almost twice that of England's Roy Hodgson." Or not.... Is that £7M a year or £7M for the duration of the contract? Either way, they are stupid for committing to something that they couldn't afford. Maybe FFP rules should be applied to Nations as well...
It would be interesting to see how FIFA is viewed around the world. I think in general, the English/British see FIFA as an old-boys club, who feel they are above the law and pretty much do what they want... and when they are called into question, they just hire a mate to do the investigation to clear them! I would love England to threaten to quit FIFA while Blatter is still in charge, but doubt it would really have any affect!
Well the smaller nations love FIFA because they get money and support from them but it might like the EU - we're unpopular as we go against the grain. FIFA's own investigator is disputing the findings! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30037729 Wouldn't surprise if FIFA use this as an excuse to kick us out anyway....
