I appreciate the first page updates, and modding work in general, but I'm after the crazy connections, people's helicopter in hymers, the done deal hilarious mistakes, updates of people doing a runner on their lunch.

I wouldn't mind going through off topic posts to find these, but this year it's just people arguing and being negative, and there are so many of them.

This season is a poorer indication as he had limited funds so had to build a makeshift squad.

If £8m, plus whatever loans/freebies we signed, could ever be classed as limited funds in this division to put together a 'makeshift squad' that's already had £52m spent on it, you might have had a point.

Er, I'm obviously talking relative to the premier league. In this league we signed diomande and Akpom as strikers, with akpom and jelavic and then akpom and Hernandez starting a lot of early season games until Bruce realised akpom was **** and we had no clear option to playing diame up top with Hernandez.

So you think we're going to start playing predominantly 2 up front all of a sudden? And stop playing Diame I'd presume, as how else can you play with two strikers?

You're forgetting we're £80m in debt. Pay that off, cover the wage increases so we break even next season, and spend any surplus on the academy / training ground. All of that is far preferable to a £20m striker in my eyes.

Then how much is it worth to stay up in the Prem or go straight back down

Call me silly, but I'd rather pay down half the debt and use the other half to stay up, so that next season we can use half to pay down the rest of the debt and use the other half to stay up again.

That wouldn't be silly if we didn't have **** owners that we wanted to see the back of asap.

And what happens if you spend half and go down anyway? Every club is spending big don't forget and you're stuck with expensive players on massive wages.

Plus SydneyTiger14, I think the new owners ( whoever they might be)might prefer to keep us in the Prem than have us drop straight back down to the championship.

Having them pay down all the debt in one season wouldn't make them likely to leave, it'd just mean they're happy to stay and take all income after that point as instant profit.

At the end of the day if they want to stay they'll stay, regardless of how much or how little debt we have.

You're talking like it's an exact science that spending loads of money means you'll stay up. How much more did us and DQPR spend than Burnley and we still all went down anyway and who came out of it best?

    That too. <laugh>

As much as Bum likes to think it's the case, I'm not sure prospective owners want to buy a basket case C'ship club with no decent players, just because it's debt free. At least, they wouldn't be as keen as they would be for a competent PL club with debt reduced.

Just a minute ago you were talking as if it were an exact science to get promoted to the PL. You can't have it both ways. Strong, smart investment will keep you up, just as strong, smart investment can get you promoted. Neither is a guarantee, which is why a PL club is going to be more attractive to buy as the revenue is guaranteed for at least one season more than for a Championship club.

I just didn't realise that spending loads of money meant it was FACT that you stayed up. I feel a fool.

As I just said, you were acting as if spending loads of money would make it a FACT that you'd get promoted.
