Quite like the player, but taken him too early in my view.

Especially as the Giants have just traded in right behind the Vikings, Kwesi being poor in the draft again

The way the draft fell couldn’t have been any worse really so I can understand not wanting to move back as Jackson was the last decent o lineman available

Seems Jackson has been deemed a steal at 24 by some pundits, plus the grades given for the pick are either A or B. Good enough for me.

I guess we could have traded down but I can't complain that we've revamped our O Line. It's been a big issue for years. With Darrisaw back and all the FA signings, plus drafting Jackson, JJ McCarthy should be a very happy QB!

With the way the board fell it would appear that they were set on picking a lineman (offensive or defensive) and Jackson was the last one left. The Giants, Falcons and Eagles all must’ve had conversations about moving up as they all did shortly after the Vikings pick but clearly they valued Jackson more than what was offered. Personally I would’ve taken the Falcons offer if it was anything like what they gave the Rams.

Ultimately the Vikings banged on about getting someone who could make an impact this season and Jackson was arguably the only player left when it was their pick who could do that, don’t hate the selection but I wouldn’t have done it. Won’t be surprised if Campbell and Starks turn out to be pro bowlers and the Ravens and Eagles, once again, had two of the better players in the draft class just fall into their laps and drafted the best player available regardless of position. Will Johnson is a much better prospect as well but clearly teams are worried about his knee as he completely fell out of the first round

Will watch day 2 tonight but should be pretty quiet from a Viking perspective. Think they draft a tight end, safety or running back if they pick in the third round. Most fans would hate it but I also could see Kwesi using next years picks to try and get another pick today. This is a make or break season for him so I could see him mortgaging the future if there is a player he really wants.
 
Considering Shadeur was odds on at one point to be the first overall pick this could be the biggest fall in history. Dart and Shough getting picked over him is crazy

Did you see his personalised 'draft room' at home? Dollar signs hanging from the ceiling etc. Must feel a bit of a prat at the moment (although will still make good money)

Yeah, I think it’s all the off field stuff that is making him fall. His dad obviously being a legend and known for having a huge ego is working against him. He also has only ever been coached by his dad so has never had to compete for the job at QB. Was talk that his dad was in the running for a head coach job in the NFL and would draft his son, so I’m sure no head coach wants those rumours/headache by drafting him

I see we also traded back. Gave up pick 97 and a 6th round pick for pick 102 and pick 142. So gives us 2 pucks in the 5th round now.
 
Yeah not sure about the pick tbh. The Falcons traded up to 96 and took the safety I think the Vikings would’ve taken at 97 in Watts who was falling a bit. Basically as soon as the Falcons made the trade the Vikings traded back as well.

Late round 3 it’s hard to judge for me as I don’t know enough about the players that late on, but it seems like Felton was around the 7th - 10th “best” receiver available at that point on most big boards, and wasn’t a glaring need so feels like a bit of a reach. Plus with the trade they moved up a lot (about 40 spots) but didn’t gain any additional picks and this draft allegedly drops off a cliff talent wise by about the end of the 4th round because of NIL.

Anyway everyone is an expert at this point, draft grades are hilarious and pointless when they are done immediately. The Vikings have been pretty terrible at drafting since Kwesi arrived so just have to hope the trend changes. Only having 1 pick in the end in the top 100 means it’s very unlikely they will get any meaningful players (outside of Jackson) this draft, if Jackson works out then you probably call the draft average if he doesn’t then it’s another terrible one.

2 picks today and the draft starts at 5pm which is a lot more UK friendly. There are still a fair few highly regarded interior D line available so be interesting if the Vikings try and get one of those, will have to move up into the 4th to have a chance which would likely require giving up a pick for next year, CJ West is someone I think will do well in the NFL so be interesting to see where he goes

And Sanders still hasn’t gone, 5 other QBs taken over him, arguably none of which should have been from a talent perspective. Teams really don’t want to deal with the media circus that is involved with him.

Now it looks like he will be coming in as a backup rather than a starter his personality doesn’t seem to fit as backup, plus Deion in all the media talking about him is not going to be helpful. He surely will get drafted at some point, but this definitely feels like a league decision to almost send a message

Yeah, idiotic. Rypien is probably better and a better fit for the offense.

Taken a DT with their latest draft pick, nobody seems happy based on the instant reactions.

Draft has been pretty predictable so far for the Vikings. All players who had a top 30 visit have been selected if they were available. Imagine it will be a tight end with their final pick, and if they trade back again and get an extra pick then a running back as well
