I have never understood why the Americans call it Football? I'm not knocking it it's just that they seem to have it more in their hands than at their feet.

American football came from an adapted version of rugby which came from an adapted version of football, so I'm assuming the naming got passed along somehow.
 
I recently watched a Youtube video explaining Rugby to Americans which went over the history of Rugby and how it links to American football. Like Touchdown, obviously comes from Rugby because in AF you don't actually have to touch it down.

My girlfriend was born in Indiana so we follow The Colts but she also follows The Arizona Cardinals because that’s where she lived for 10 years.
 
Been living in the US for the last two months. Local team is the 49ers.

Don't know much about the sport but always get a bit hooked whenever it's on the telly.
I didn't know much at all when I first started watching but I soon picked it up. But don't ask me about all the different formations because I don't have a bloody clue!

I understand the basics. Played a lot of Madden on my Mega Drive back in the 90s.
