Pearce wasn't very good at Forest. To answer another question. Giggs and Gerrard were in the original bookies odds, granted as long shot's and it was SuffolK above who suggested Hucks. Bah!
He took over at Forest as player-manager as his first attempt at management and they were very poor at the time, but he has improved since then and had a very good record with the England Kids. If he came in with a decent DoF I think he'd do ok!
With ya on that General. If the board thought we still had a chance for playoffs, well, it's hard to have a new manager bounce without a new manager. If they didn't think so, what's the hurry to sack Neil before the "new structure" is in place.
Am I going mad? He had a stint as Forest manager (non-player) at yhe same time as we had Neil Adams. They like us started the season like a train. For a spell we were top two. But they suffered a similar slump. We sacked Neil and got Neil and promotion. They stuck with him for a little longer and went no where. Maybe it wasn't just him, it's not like they've done much since, but it wasn't exactly a successful stint! Bah!
So rumour control aka the EDP - Nigel Pearson and whilst he laid the 'foundations' for Ranieri to then go and win the PL with Leicester, I'm not sure I'd want him at CR!!!!
I just don't see Delia et al putting up with someone as out spoken as Pearson. I wouldn't object to getting him. At least he has experience at a similar sized club at a similar level. Wouldn't excite me and he wouldn't have been my first choice but beggars and all that. Bah!
Neil Lennon anyone? Connection with Moss if rumours around him are true? Think he never had a chance at Bolton given the problems there... nothe sure what style of play he would go for, but he has balls.
Whilst there are certainly positives; Young, knows how to organise a defense, Knows how to get promoted from the championship. Those stats in the article are pretty damning, is his football a bit too defensive? he also signed Bamford for the PL! Bah!
Karanka simply has to get at least invited for an interview. If the board do not make such an invite, I will just about give up on them and join forces with KIO
He would be front of the list though on who we know is available right now, wait a bit longer and another PL team manager may also become surplus to requirements. IMO that is why Rowett was the best option with no failure on his CV, we are only going to be inviting a new manager who has failed, who else in there right mind would come to a club like ours...
I don't look at Kranka as a failure in the slightest; remember it was only Middlesbrough who are never likely to pull up any trees in the PL (a bit like NCFC to be honest). Very few people are going to make them a top half Prem side without massive funding.
there are different degress of failure and like you say i dont see him as an out right failure, my point to GM was hes the best out who's available right now and any team being promoted to PL is going to struggle, as you say he must at least get an interview.
This has crossed my mind and in hindsight, and on a personal level, I would take it if he is the best chance of getting back up. Now the question is will I accept it in the PL? That is a harder question to answer but I am inclined to say yes again, even if we got relegated. The acid test comes the following season, as it did with AN - can he get the automatic bounce back.
