Eddie Howe with Pochettino his no2 would be my choice

Honestly, is there a genuine, realistic candidate out there?
Eddie Howe is one but it's too early for him, he's just not managed at a high level for long enough although obviously a coach of great potential.
Steve Bruce? They knocked him back last time and he's not worked since so not a ****ing chance, he's not good enough.
Alan Pardew? He's just another 'proper football man' knobhead. They'd find a reason to sack him within months.
Glenn Hoddle? He's not worked for a decade. I wonder why.
Someone mentioned van Gaal and Hiddink to me last night, as if because they're foreign and out of work makes them candidates. Two has been's, so no.
Who else out there is going to want to leave their job and touch the England job with a barge pole? No ****er is, why would they?
Best bet for me is see how Southgate goes and then try to get Wenger after this season. I think he'd be great for the job. Fresh from the premier league and not over the hill by any means.

I'd go with Whinger, if the FA are thinking on those lines, i.e. Another foreign manager. They seemed to determined to go English, in which case if Southgate flops, I'd still go for Hoddle.
No way Wenger would want/take the job from what Ive learned about him through statements, articles and interviews. He'd be more likely to manage France - whose FA he had a better relationship with, but tbh I think when he stops managing Arsenal he'll just 'go upstairs' into an upper management role.
Southgate may get it as he will be guaranteed 4 games and they seem to like him for some reason. But equally his last game is against Spain and it's very easy to imagine him screwing up the 4 games.

Southgate was a crap club manager. How is he qualified to manage England? He's also a very meek, private guy. I doubt he'd stand up to the scrutiny of being the England manager.
I agree about a crap club manager but that doesn't mean he'll be **** at international level.
We tried Capello who was a brilliant club manager, how did that work out?
Southgate is far from ideal but we're hardly blessed with options...

No manager of decent pedigree would touch the 'poisoned chalice' job with a barge pole - there's huge press scrutiny and the idea that the team should be getting to Semi finals, when in truth their scraping into the top 10th best in the world, but unlike most other teams (barring notable exceptions like France and Holland) they have no team spirit or togetherness and just play as individuals.
Their options is Southgate - awful manager who has achieved nothing at club level or with the U21s
Hoddle - achieved nothing for 18 years, not managed for over a decade, been passed over for lower Prem and upper Championship posts recently. Previously sacked for dodgy associations and beliefs. Over the hill, pundit.
Bruce - wasn't considered good enough 3 months ago, hardly has a glowing record. Out of work.
Jurgen Klinsman - Is probably the best option they could go for, but they snubbed him 3 months ago

All the other candidates I've seen touted can't hold a candle to Wenger's record, he is the second most successful Manager in England in the last 20 years.
His teams play attractive, offensive, passing football something that we are crying out for, the only downside is that he is not English.
