We're a lucky bunch I wonder if it was essential to break this news story now, or it's all been cunningly timed as an attempt to improve the anaemic atmosphere at Loftus Road lately. It's probably worked!
The scum were regularly getting sub 10k crowds, Saints doubled their attendance, Hull added 8k on their attendance with a new ground in the championship. We will see a big increase purely on the fact LR is so horrible, theres so little room, you cant but 2 seats together, poles are in the way and everything is falling apart.
that looks amazing, to get a 40k stadium, its not that hard to fill it, whether you like it or not there are drifting fans, at the moment they have drifted to cfc and ffc, these people are not die hards, I guarantee the first game will be a sell out, and when you get a feel good factor at a club fans follow, that why I call cfc fans sheep. a new stadium is always good news,
A whole lot of steel will certainly be consumed by this mega project, which I am really excited about, but also a bit apprehensive - the new stadium location would mark a return to our roots of the early 1900's.
Wow, just bloody wow. I was about to go to bed but I cant now! Such amazing news! Perfect location, perfect capacity, perfect timing. As a trainee architect who is looking into the stadia design sector this is mind blowing timing! Would love to get involved in some capacity.
The people moaning about leaving LR will forget this and the fact we've moved more than any other team. Its just that we've been at LR in our lifetimes but we are going back to the historic roots.
I honestly cannot understand why any QPR fan would be negative about this news. Could and should be the biggest turning point in our history. Amazing !!
Looks like great news...brilliant location, especially given so many other clubs have moved MUCH further. Credit to TF and co. for working at this, and not just taking the easy option of moving out of London.
I can say with some authority that this will go ahead as planned. Planning permission is "almost " guaranteed...I spoke to other Q & Farflung about this 2 months ago. they will confirm it! first time in my life ive ever been ITK from a very good source who spoke to the man himself. Also another front man to help Austin is on the cards soon.....watch this space..was due originally to be Defoe...yes honestly !!! take it or leave it guys
Bush, i normally like and respect your posts but this one has got me a bit confused. I cant see any negative for it TBH. they are building homes next door for families 7 they and thier kids will want to go seee man utd, Chelsea etc when they come to town wont they? i feel i must have missed something as to me this is the best news i've had from our club apart from getting promoted SO Without being confrontational, could you please explain for me ( and probably others) why it is that you are against this stadium or whatever? Im not trying to dig you out but think I must be missing something if you arent happy about it Is it the location, crowds, costs etc...i just dont get it? Genuine request mate if you'd rather PM me in case of getting abuse then thats good also. I'll await your reply mate thanks
I get the message Bushman, you fear change. Simple choice, we are a top class club providing top class entertainment against top class opposition all of which require top class facilities and capacity to generate income, or we are a lower league outfit retaining its increasingly shabby 'soul' for a dwindling and aging bunch of hardcore supporters. The stadium will be an asset of the Club. The club is an asset (or at the moment a liability) of the clubs owners. It was exactly the same with Jim Gregory. If you don't like ownership, get out there amongst the fans, raise the capital, make an offer. Then invest in the club to the level they are prepared to do and I will be very happy. Sadly, not going to happen is it, because we like mouthing off and criticising, but we don''t like taking responsibility and action. Yes, it will be a challenge filling the place against Doncaster. That's why we need to get out of this **** division quickly and permanently, rather than sticking our heads in the sand. Coventry Council and partners own the Ricoh, the club merely rented it, false comparison. Bravo Tony, Phil Beard and possibly (who knows they never speak) Mittal and Amit. You'll get some stick from those who don't get the vision and want to stay in at Loftus Road forever, but ignore them. Build it and they will come!
of course it will be filled, how can you doubt that? Advertised as a Premiershp match between hosts QPR in their shiny modern stadium, the newest in the country Versus An other prem team. you can take in the experience of a top class Premiership game of football, the have a casual evening stroll with your beloved to the biggest shopping centre in Europe where you can shop & dine the night away. if you get bored with this then a quick cab ride puts you in the heart of the west end.....blah blah blah... How wlll it not sell out..i dont understand the issue?
Incredible. Gob smacked. Overwhelming news. Major congratulations to Tony, Phil and Amit who I feel certain must nbe the driving force behind this. Maybe Reuben too? I wonder how much those apartments with a view of the pitch cost?!! COYRss!!!!
I think its great news and vital for the long term future of our club, but for me its also tinged with great sadness at leaving what has been our home for all of our lifetimes. To put it simply, I love Loftus Road, but sadly its past its sell by date. However to have any chance of ensuring that the club has a sound financial future I think this is a must. I just hope that Tony knows what he's doing and gets it right, especially in terms of stadium ownership and protecting the club against a Coventry scenario. I also worry about us growing out of being "little old QPR" as well. Not sure if I like that. Putting my positive head on though, bring it on. I'm confident we can achieve 30,000 + crowds on a regular basis in the top flight, and 40,000 for the big games. A brand new stadium close to the West End of London in the Premier League (hopefully) will be a big draw on the casual fans. At least we have an owner with vision and willpower to improve and change.
