There is a touch of the late 80s about it (the one with the white epaulettes). I would have been ok with it if it came with black shorts. I actually like the away kit though and if pressed to but one then its away for me.
Am fairly easy going on kits as I don't buy them and I liked last seasons, but the new kit does not look better when seen on players (as I hoped). It is not even the design, it is the implementation of the design. The home kit looks as if the player has grown out of it and his mum has extended the sleeves rather than buy a new one. The fabric hangs all wrong...truly appalling.
Was in the common room today when the announcement was made. I knew what I was expecting to see but asked my mate to get them up on his phone. Anyway of the 6 or 7 of us there, they said "that's alright, but it's not you is it?" about the home and generally loved the away. The main shouts were Bayern and Swindon. Like others have said, it's a shirt. No one wears a football shirt to look fashionable. (surely) It's worn as a display of support and no more. The players are the only ones having to wear it. I'm certainly not going to get uppity about who likes it, who doesn't, who wears it and who won't wear it. The only people that annoy me are those who FORCE their view upon others. "It's crap" and "I'd punch people wearing that comments" are moronic. Get over yourselves. If you like it, that's good. If you don't, then maybe a future offering will be more up your street, but less up other peoples.
I don't give a toss if people buy it or not. It's how it looks on the players that most concerns me. It just won't look "right" seeing them play in that next season. I wonder who you are talking about! I think it's crap, thats why I said "I think its crap". I could probably give you a 2000 word deeper explanation as to why I think its "crap" but you won't read it, so one word in this case, sums it up nicely for me. Do you REALLY think I'd punch anyone wearing it? Come on, its the internet mush, YOU need to get over yourself. Anyway, I tend to headbutt before I punch. If there is seriously anyone reading this feeling they are being FORCED to think one way or another, then they probably should stay well away from going online... or going outside.
The main jist of my point is, I support Southampton Football Club. Not any one shirt design, player, manager or chairman. Put some good players in the shirt and get results, that's what matters most. People who just like to 'shout loudest' as it were, I tend to regard less than those who reason and just say what they think without turning on all the melodrama and ramming their views into everyone else left, right and centre.
As do I. However, today we are talking about the new kits as its the topic for today. I'd so much more love to talk about football matches, but sadly there isn't any at the moment. Indeed it does. Let's hope our current players improve and new ones are as good if not better... whilst wearing that crap shirt Should we introduce a rule to this forum that you are only allowed 1 or 2 posts on each subject then? What I tend to dislike most on forums are the "cliques" of people who like to feel superior and feel threatened when their views are challenged in even the slightest way.
Does anyone ITK have any idea if the club plan to mix the kits up? Eg. Use home shorts with away shirt or vice versa?

it's early days, but I admit I might at least lose some enthusiasm if we looked like united/arsenal/liverpool/cardiff/charlton/forest every season from now on. Not by any means to the point of defecting though. editswindon/Bristol city) on the other hand fact I took some delight in sharing the theme with exeter, athletico madrid, brentford, etc. not stoke though. i feel a bit like a turncoat.
I think it looks like a Nottingham Forest shirt with the wrong badge. What ever happened to saints playing in red and white stripes?
The black kit is spooky. I'm going to buy a kit this season. I havent bought one in years but this new era makes me more proud to wear the clubs colours.
