A few years ago, Chelsea and Man City were never as well supported as they are now. Brought success buys you new supporters, kids at school wanting to support the “best team”. Doing fair play on income is never going to be fair, not now, too many clubs have used loopholes and bolted.
I’d like to see a salary cap like they have in Rugby Union, a set total amount permissible, the same figure for everyone. If they wanted to introduce 2 marquee signings who were excluded from the figures maybe consider it.
It would never happen though, the argument would be English teams struggle in Europe and fans want to see us attracting the best there is out there.
