We had a loan deal for Ricky Alvarez with an obligation to buy... The site says nothing about an "obligation" and I'm hoping that these owners aren't as daft as we were previously - this lad could get crocked on his debut and miss the season and we have to buy him in January? I know that's extreme and is unlikely but Alvarez took ages to get fit and hardly played a part in the side due to that
It doesn't but Wigan have already replaced the lad. They bought a midfielder yesterday so they don't want him back. The only reason he ended up signing as a loanee was because they ran out of time for some reason. I'd also assume the lad will be fully aware if his precarious contractual position and will be doing his best to make sure the deal is made permanent. If anything, we have an even more committed, desperate-to-please player than if he'd signed permanent yesterday.
Yes and no - there are insurances in place which cover a club for a percentage of the player's wages if they pick up a serious injury - Alvarez had some bad injuries with us but still cost us £££££ and we never got him (that was something I couldn't understand - if he had a pre agreed deal with us why wasn't that enforced - to me it felt like buying something on a credit deal, Finishing paying for it then having it taken off you for nothing!! - Different day different thread) It's all hypothetical anyhow - I would assume that the club have a deal to buy in place for January which will activate at a certain point - although I truly don't know the whole ins and outs of it I think he'll be, as @Burly Hurley says, trying his damnedest to ensure that contract is his come January! Unusual feeling this one of having players who want to play for the shirt!!
Even if they were on the pitch playing for us on a Saturday, I still wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen the scarf.
Team talk are saying Cattermole may be on his way to join Gus Poyet at Bordeaux. Thought Lee was a pints man and not a glass of red.
Or sowing seeds of discontent, he's over rated, over paid, and over the hill and hopefully far far away, any direction will do.
