I've got my tin hat on but.... Danny Graham scored regularly for Blackburn at this level last season, would he step down again and he always said he enjoyed his time at our club...just a suggestion.
Sky’s Keith Downie “Middlesbrough have made a bid in excess of £5m for Sunderland midfielder Paddy McNair. Brighton have already failed with two bids for the Northern Irish international.“
The word on the ground is that bids have been accepted for both Cattermole and Honeyman. Will be happy to see Cattermole go, but less keen to see Honeyman depart. However, the rumour is on FB, so not exactly a reliable source!
Can't say I'd be pleased to see Honeyman go but I think a big part of that would be the symbolism of us selling our young players when I want us to build a team around them, rather than because he's actually all that good. If he was the same player but six inches taller and a stone heavier he'd be more useful. Not a bad player though and chips in with a few goals. Cattermole can definitely go though, I think we all know that he's way past it now.
I’d let Catts go for pennies to be honest just have rid. Honeyman is like to stay and I’ll be surprised if he’s pushing for a move. Even some that were mad keen to leave initially must surely have been swayed by the change of mood and optimism. Let’s not forget they aren’t going to decent PL clubs, and only Leeds and Villa are near our size a league up. Would they gain by moving?
If we get off to a flying start in August, the lads who are still here will want to stay more. Though ultimately it’s down to the money and player/agent greed. Nobody knows what’s gonna happen, but it’s sure gonna be intrestin!!!! Bart
It should nice to at least have a bit of hope and positivity after last few years mate, we can all agree on that!
http://the72.co.uk/105965/sunderland-chase-barnsley-midfielder/ Sunderland A.F.C. are looking to sign Barnsley’s Stevie Mallan according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon. The 22-year-old midfielder signed for Barnsley last summer for an undisclosed fee from St Mirren, but his first year in South Yorkshire has been an underwhelming one. He has struggled to get into the first team there and only made nine appearances for the club last season. However, it may have been for the best because it means that not many could blame him for the club’s relegation from the Sky Bet Championship. With Mallan being out of the first team picture, teams are interested in signing him. There have already been reports that Hibernian want to bring him back to Scotland, but now Sunderland are interested in signing him. Their new head coach, Jack Ross, knows Mallan well as they worked together at St Mirren, and he obviously thinks that he could play a big part in the Sunderland side that he is in the process of rebuilding. However, there could be some difficulties with this move. Barnsley may now be keen to keep Mallan as he could end up being a regular now that they are in League One. This report indicates that Sunderland need to raise some funds, which means that this would have to be a cheap buy or maybe even a loan deal, and with Hibernian also pushing to complete this deal, they may end up getting priced out as there would be nothing that Barnsley would love more than a bidding war for Mallan.
http://www.wearewearside.com/articl...rland-will-have-quite-the-problem-this-summer Another snub? Snub by AFC Wimbledon striker will indicate Sunderland will have quite the problem this summer AFC Wimbledon striker Lyle Taylor is said to be in the north east for talks with Sunderland. Rumour has it, he doesn't fancy it much. by Brandon_Rawlin Sunday, 17 June 2018 06:20 PM 0 Comments Soon-to-be free agent Lyle Taylor is supposedly holding talks with Sunderland and several other EFL clubs as he considers leaving AFC Wimbledon this summer. But there are claims that the striker is set to rebuff the offer of a move north to Wearside. And quite frankly, if the Black Cats can't attract an out-of-contract Wimbledon striker to join the red-and-white revolution, then all the early signs indicate that this transfer window is going to be a tortuous one. WITH DEALS WORTH ESCAPING FOR! Explore the Offers for Guernsey today! Sponsored by Visit Guernsey please log in to view this image Taylor is thought to favour staying in the south and looks likely to reject Sunderland's advances. Peterborough looks his most likely destination as things stand. Any snub would suggest that the reputation which has surrounded the Stadium of Light in recent years is going to take some shifting. The danger now for Sunderland's new owners, of course, is that struggles in the transfer market will dash any optimism and good-will engendered in their first weeks of their rein on Wearside. 28-year-old Taylor has attracted attention from a host of Championship and League One clubs, and is said to have been talking to Bristol Rovers and Peterborough. Posh have already supposedly beaten off competition from Sunderland to land defender Jason Naismith from St Mirren. Black Cats supremo Stewart Donald suggested there was never any Wearside interest in the right-back, despite Peterborough Director of Football, Barry Fry, claiming otherwise. Sunderland execs continue to insist they're in talks with several players but supporters are already a little twitchy over the lack of decisive early action, especially given the suggestion that almost all of the first team squad are keen on leaving the club this summer. Admittedly Sunderland enjoy something of a poor reputation in footballing circles given the club's troubles in recent years, and that coupled with ongoing hints that the Stadium of Light dressing room has not been a happy place to be could yet make it difficult to attract talent to Wearside. That stigma could run well into the depths of the summer transfer window, despite there been new ownership and a new first team manaer installed at SAFC. The elusive first signing of the transfer window for new boss Jack Ross would settle any early doubts. They're probably getting this info from some itk on the Wimbledon board
Doesn't suggest the transfer window will be tortuous at all. It suggests that they're (currently) targeting the wrong players. That's if there is any truth at all in this article.
If there is a dressing room reputation problem , the manager and owner can explain that nearly all the culprits of the situation will be gone , and any left will have been told that poor attitude will not be tolerated. I would tell them that the opportunity will be grasped to start afresh and create the very best atmosphere possible.
SHARE TWEET With few players on Wearside being in form last season, Sunderland should cash in on their loan players who hit form. One such player is Senegalese defender Papy Djilobodji. The 29-year old had an impressive season on loan at Djion and could now fetch a pretty penny. Djilobodji struggled for Sunderland in the Premier League. While he had impressive stats of 9.7 clearances and 3 interceptions per game, this was due to the siege-like nature of life in the Sunderland defence that season. In light of this, his stats at mid-table Dijon this season of 6.7 clearances and 2.4 interceptions per game are as impressive. Indeed, his passing percentage rose from 72% to 79.4%. This uptick in form was even rewarded with a return to the Senegal national side It is easier for Djilobodji to be moved out on loan than to sell him. This is because clubs know that Sunderland will not be able to offer high earning players new contracts. Consequently, many are waiting for the contracts to tick down until they can pick up players for free. Particularly in the case of Djilobodji, this cannot be an option. The Senegalese defender was brought in for £8 million in 2016. The club cannot afford to simply write that off. It may be that they have to turn down loan offers to try to wring out a cash offer, knowing that they cannot afford for him to stay at the Stadium of Light. Such a risk would be worth it if it resulted in easing their cash worries. What the hell does he think we are trying to do We want rid
