I do agree with a lot that you have said. One big issue is if this going on causes fractions in the dressing room, regardless of whether Terry is captain or not, this will still go on. Therefore do you tell the players to man up and get on with it or do you drop Terry entirely. For me its even more reason to get the Court decision before the tournament but that seems unlikely.

I think ultimately you have to see the support Suarez got off the Liverpool players and generally I think those who like Terry will support him, those that don't wont. This case is unlikely to really effect how the other England players are with Terry. You can't get on with everyone you 'work' with so I think you pick on form and they have to get on with it.

Where I disagree with you is that there is no centre back who has the experience, quality, fitness or form for England at the moment. Terry has been one of our best players these last couple of months and on form, deserves to go to the Euros and deserves to play.

We'll disagree about form, although I think that 'experience' isn't relevant (he - and others - has played in a fair number of tournaments where a poor England has underperformed, so that's not really the kind of experience that's gonna help).

Support at club level is different than at national level - you spend so much more time with club colleagues than international ones, the feelings are bound to differ, and it's far more likely that any issues will arise on england duty rather than in the more insulated environment of a club training ground / first team squad. I'm not so concerned (as a QPR fan) about any hassle inside Stamford Bridgfe, naturally. I do worry about taking a risk into the championships by simply hoping that people won't mind his reputation or juge the case intheir own minds, because people will do just that, and there's your divisions again.

As for the timing of the court case, we'd be delighted to move it as well, as it'sright in the iddle of pre-season, and affects ferdinand's preparation for next season much more that JT's (as he'd be on holiday at the time).
 
I really don't see how Terry can play in the Euros, not with all these fingers being pointed at him. This has nothing to do with whether or not he is guilty of racist abuse of a black player, and everything to do with having an England side that is working 100% for one another to win the tournament. Even the smallest possibility that Terry may be the cause or focus of division in the England camp must be routed out and ensure that he is not selected.

I'm not being anti-Terry, I'm being pro-England.
 
Personally I dont think the FA had much choice. As usual the press has been driving this, as headline news for weeks and as a result caused so much distraction, that they couldn't get on with the business of preparation for the Summer Euro Tournament!
I suppose most of the Football journo's must have a favourite club and ones they dislike--like most football fans! I reckon these bias must crop up in their "work".
 
For me, yes, I love it when Spurs players get to pull on the three lions' shirt, but even if there are no Spurs players featuring I will always support England, and I put club loyalties firmly to one side. I have, on several occasions applauded when Terry has nodded in a corner, or made a saving tackle. Equally, like many Englishmen, I have become increasingly disillusioned by our dreadful performances in competitions, and not a little concerned that there may be division in the camp. It is increasingly clear to me that Terry is fighting some demons, and I cannot see how that can possibly be of any benefit to our chances of competing at the highest level against Europe's elite.

The problem with this whole mess ,is the time it has taken every and anyone to act. FA, totally incompetent fools. John Terry, extremely badly advised especially considering his track record. Previous evidence suggests he does not have a particularly strong sense of ethics, nor a good moral character, so it's unlikely he would voluntarily stand down.
Once the Police decided to charge him, then in my opinion, there was no choice but to stand him down. Rightly or wrongly, you cannot have your National Captain entering a major tournament with charges hanging over him. Unfair to him and the team.
But it should have been done weeks ago, and CFC and the FA should have done all in their power to convince him to do so voluntarily. That was the correct and proper way to act. Now the mess gets messier for everyone.
I hope he's innocent of these charges, and is reinstated with abject apologies from the FA it is so proved to be the case.
JT and trouble seem always to find each other.
