Ben Davies is a cracking prospect, but quite inexperienced. For the second goal he was out of position and desperately trying to get back when the ball looped to Hunt. Sometimes it's better to give them a rest before they making a glaring mistake that might haunt them.
The boy is doing ok for someone so young thrown in the deep end. Don't think our two centre-backs were positionally great for Pog's goal anyway!! As we've seen, they haven't exactly been the most reliable of late, so Ben's not been the problem, even though of course, we do miss Taylor... Great point after coming back like that. Just a little dissappointing we could not have got all 3 with the chances we had!! Ki looks awesome. What touch, composure, weight of pass & drive!!! Amazing capture it seems....
Nothing wrong with ashes positioning for the first goal, he maybe could have been a touch closer but pog was going away from the danger area with ash tracking a possible cross coming in,which he would have cut out, pog took the shot on goal and got lucky with a vorm mistake. Neither chico or ash could have done any different. For me the second goal was a ball watching incident and a basic mistake by ben to not follow his man into the danger area. The boy Will make many more mistakes,he is learning the hard way,but what im saying is that if we Are not careful we Will maybe knock his confidence and he Will struggle to play his normal game,There were signs of him going into his Shell a little bit and with ash struggling for form he needs to Think about his own game not someone elses. At the moment we Are poor defensively, bedding in chico at the same time as ben has been difficult for rangel and ash, im confident about chico, but we have to nurture ben davies if we want him to develop properly, full back is one of the most critical positions on the field, its essential to how we play, the boy has done very well but also makes glaring positional mistakes that Are not helping the fragile defence of the current swans team. We signed a seasoned professional to cover that position,we need to start using him to give ben davies a chance to learn from the sidelines as well as learning from the heat of battle.
Young Ben is coming along just fine and is a great prospect for the future. He is making mistakes, though but that is only to be expected from one so inexperienced and he can be proud of his contribution thus far. Perhaps we should give the new guy (can't spell his name) a start to see how he goes - he certainly knows how to cross a ball as we saw when he created Danny's goal against Crawley. He might give us more going forward. That said, Laudrup sees them every day in training and obviously rates Ben as his first choice LB at the moment. Doesn't say a lot for the new guy given his age and experience and I was hoping that we had signed a player who could offer a whole lot more than the rookie we are using right now. That's not to criticise Ben who is doing well under the circumstances but we do need some hard experience in defence to stop leaking goals.
maybe the new guy is still building up fitness, i know he was unfit when we signed him so maybe he needs to spend some time catching up.
I agree with this, and it's how I see it too, shame we are forced to throw this lad in the deep end, hope it doesn't break his confidence, but the Premiership is a hard place to learn for one so young, and inexperienced, he was definitely out of position for the second goal!...............
