Northolt, you could also put this the other way, No TF no NW, as i am sure that if Tony had not stepped up to the mark then Neil's days would have been numbered, as the numbskulls at the top would have sacked him for not getting the results, even though they didn't give him any money to improve the squad! Saying that I think Neil would have actually resigned if the goons were left in charge. Even with Neil in charge he never really knew where he was with the previous regime and to be honest who did, the fans on here and the old bbc606 were not that confident. With Tony here now the whole atmsphere has changed to that of great optimism and hope for the future going forwards. With the Billions the previous owners had how much did they spend to help to get us to PL? It was all Neils clever work, with i am sure some assistance from Amit on the board, but in the end Amit could not stay standing by his principles in trying to look after the fans. With Tony, Amit and Phillip at the helm, i am sure our future is bright and i for one am looking foward to what lies ahead. Maybe this topic should be split into different catagories, most important signing1) owners, 2) manager, 3) player?
Yeah he meant player, it was a bit naughty of me to sidetrack it! I'll go for Adel our belle, for his wonder season getting us back to the top table. VERY IMPORTANT
I'd honestly say Joey Barton. That might sound strange, but it goes beyond just football on the pitch. He is a good player (I know he isn't great atm but he may come good eventually), but his signing alone seemed to really put you guys on the map and show that you're prepared to spend a lot more compared to the other promoted clubs and sign some much bigger names. Now you guys have the likes of him and SWP (both players on big salaries previously) many people are touting QPR for a top 10-12 finish and other players (and agents) can see that you have some ambition and aren't afraid to splash out on players which have hefty salaries which the other promoted teams could only dream of affording at the moment. This will help you attract better players in the January and summer windows. I know there's a long history of QPR, but this is the prime opportunity to stabilise yourselves in the Premier League - the best football league in the world - as permanent residents. In my view, signing Barton was the statement of intent which has set everything off.
It's a fair point Chappaz and i see where your coming from, but we can't compare him to the likes of Marsh,Bowles and Sir Les.We will see what happens this season and in the future, and if he leads us to glory further down the road,i will come back and agree with you!
They are so many players to pick from all with a valid reason for been named, Marsh,Gallen,Parkes, Francis, Parker we could be here all night.
