Nice one Hornette ,will you be able to update us on your phone as you are going, Mrs N always says women are good at multi tasking!!
i maybe able to send the odd update on a loo stop lol...otherwise, i'll definitely let you know when i finish ...should be before breakfast time, i'm hoping!
Hornette - To keep the pace up you need to get to the front, otherwise you get blocked by slower walkers. Mrs W_Y and I entered into the first starting group when we did it and got a fast start...another tip, do not gulp down lots of water, just sips - it's stops the need for comfort breaks.. Good luck with the training - I actually preferred the training, it was beautiful power walking along the canals and fields around MK. I will put up some cash over the week-end..
Does it matter what time i put down as an estimate when i registered? Coz i'm going to be a lot faster than that and i wonder if they take that as a start point time. i hope not. i'm a bit worried about the friends i'm doing it with though, because i haven't been training with them and i know they're walking at a far slower pace at the moment. i'm thinking i might just have to go off without them. Right at the beginning we all said we'd stick together, but i'll be gutted if i don't do my best time lol..i'm way too competitive for that! Hmm, ah well, time to think about that one. Thanks for the tip re: the water. Funnily enough, i did that today because i was a bit concerned about not having anywhere to stop along the canal, though the cafe at the Aquadrome has come in very handy in the last two weeks. lol Thank you W-Y! Very kind of you
Sorry Hornette cant offer any practical advice If I travel over 10 km I tend to use a petrol or diesel engine You have got 2 pairs of comfy walking shoes havent you ,just in case something happened to your favourite footwear the night before!!!
ooh well actually, i've only got one pair of trainers...hmm, good point, maybe i should get another pair, just in case! Such great advice Norway, thank you!
Hornette - In the London Moonwalk they put you in starting groups depending on the time you put down when you entered and you will receive a colour coded number that corresponds to that starting group. So if you put a slower time down you will start later and if you are a quicker will have to barge your way through... When I was a little boy, I fell through the floor of the old wooden Cafe at the Ricky Aquadrome...
Hornette - Another tip, if you need to get another pair of trainers do it NOW, do not wear a new pair on the night, they will kill you feet. That place at the bottom of Watford High St. is a great shop for proper trainers - they really know their stuff and have a good selection of proper trainers.
Hmm, i had a feeling they might do that. Ah well, i'll get off to a slow start, but i'm quite good at barging lol. i bought the ones i'm wearing now at Runners World in Eastcote, and they were brilliant. Bought them back in February and they assured me they'd see me through til June, and now that i've worn them in, i'm kinda loathe to wear new ones, but they're already dying a bit. i might take them down there and see what they think. hmm, lots to think about!
