Hornette - Toe nails are no big deal, they will grow back. What is important is looking after your feet up to the night... Do you have a spare pair of trainers? - when you said that you had put holes through the tops already, I would be a little concerned. Maybe go back to that trainer shop and make sure they understand you are a Power Walker - yeah, I know, but now is the time to make sure your feet are 100%. Not trying to be a Mr Big Bollox, but trying to help to make sure you are spot on for the night. Mrs W_Y & I spent a lot of time and effort on trainers - she used to get the Walk the Walk official NB trainers and they were very good!
Sorry to keep jumping in..but that is normal, it's to with the increased ciculation but the outside temp is low. We used to wear Ron Hill walking gloves..
or maybe too much wine Since foot numbness is usually associated with some sort of damage to the nerve, podiatrists advise against wearing high heeled or narrow toe shoes. Consuming too much alcohol can cause numbness in the toes as alcohol can damage the nervous system. If your feet feel numb, take special care when walking. Use your common sense to avoid falls. Wear sturdy shoes that give you adequate support, and keep a clear pathway in your home. Try to avoid extreme temperatures of hot and cold. Massaging your feet may help, in addition to a period of physical therapy to help strengthen weak muscles. Some people report that acupuncture or deep breathing and other relaxation techniques help to alleviate their symptoms. w-y...i'll go back there, though he did say it'd probably happen coz he'd noticed that my other trainers had the holes, and he said it wouldn't cause any problems to my feet if i made holes in my trainers. i'll go back and check though, might even try a different pair though Mr H won't be happy with me spending another ã85 lol
strangely, it's never hurt lol...and i did have a fair bit of alcohol at the Grove today..and had to wear my girlie shoes, which have heels and weren't best comfy with my darn blisters lol

Imagine this is written on the back of a postage stamp, as it's all I know about numbness and running (John Major was PM when I last ran ) : I used to find that if my toenails were even marginally too long, I lost all feeling in the toes. My trick was to keep the nails as short as possible, then feeling slowly returned, even when running. Look after yourself, Hornette .
