A couple of things here. You, like many others are not happy with Laudrup getting the sack. Fine, but you can't be naive enough to think that you could ever have trusted the board to be honest with us or anybody else.
We may have the monicker of 'a well run club', but Football is a nest of sneaky vipers and business men who have learned the best way to do things for themselves. I don't even believe we have the whole story behind Laudrup going, Monk's evolving position and the host of stories that we're hearing about Laudrup's attitude.
I suspect we'll never know, but don't be surprised by it.
At this point, all we can do is hope the board still has it's ability to appoint people that will benefit the team.

I don't expect the board to always be upfront, but blatantly lying is something I cannot forgive. There is a difference.

I'd like to know what happened between HJ and ML agreeing on Monk coming into the coaching staff and then HJ changing his mind and sacking Laudrup.
 
I've seen a few people saying Garry Monk may not be the right interim man for the job. This from the Official Swans Page...

Two former Swansea City managers have backed Garry Monk to make a successful step up into his new head coach role.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez and Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers have hailed the appointment of their former captain as the new man in charge at the Liberty.
Martinez played alongside Monk during his time at the club before the Spaniard took up his first managerial role at the Liberty in 2007.
It is a similar route for Monk, who was named head coach after Michael Laudrup’s departure on Tuesday.
And Martinez, whose Everton side host the Swans in the FA Cup next week, believes his former club have made the right appointment.
"Garry is perfect, absolutely perfect,” said Martinez, who guided the Swans to the League One title in 2008.
"If Swansea went and got someone from the outside to take over now, they would need six weeks to get to know the club.
"That's too long. Garry knows all about it already. He has been in the thick of Swansea City for so long so he knows exactly what is required.
"It reminds me a lot of my situation when I came back. I knew the players, the fans, the staff, the club and the city, and that was important.
"Garry is exactly the same. I was only 33 when I took the job and I think that at 34, Garry has had enough time to think about the game.
"It's not a matter of experience. If Swansea did not have good enough players, then you would need an experienced manager to try to squeeze the best out of what they had.
"But the squad at Swansea is good enough — I am 100 per cent sure of that.”
He added: "It's funny because Garry took over as captain after me, and I know that having been captain of that club, he will be aware of the responsibilities and of what the fans want.
"Being the captain makes you well aware of what the club means to the community, and Garry has seen everything at Swansea.
"He knows what Swansea City's identity is, and that's a big strength.
"He has got Swansea City in his DNA, and he will go out of his way to get things right."



Rodgers, too, backed Monk’s appointment.
The current Liverpool boss led the Swans to the Barclays Premier League in his first season in charge at the Liberty, with Monk as his captain.
And Rodgers, who entered management himself at the age of 35 with Watford, is confident Monk can lead the Swans to top-flight safety.
"If he produces the same qualities as he did for me as the captain when I was at Swansea, there's no doubt he will be successful," said Rodgers.
"If the club at this moment are looking for leadership and commitment, then in my experience at Swansea City, there's no greater man than Garry.
"I always felt that he could go on to be an excellent manager — and he is someone who knows the fabric of Swansea City and what the club is all about.
"It's a huge task for Garry to step up now, but you have to take that opportunity.
"And I don't think he can think too much about going in as a Premier League boss.
"Initially for Garry it's about psychology — it's about getting the players in a good state of mind."
He added:” "People don't understand how hard it is to cope with the demands of the Europa League — I know that from experience.
"But there's no question in my mind that Swansea will still be in the Premier League next year."

Never had the financial backing to bring in real quality strikers.
Because of Sousa we had a defence worthy of the name and something to build on.
As much a part of our success as Flynn, Hamster, Martinez, ROgers and Laudrup.
He had to go though, as did Laudrup, because they stood up to HJ and a few players who didn't get their way.

I know better than to listen to a sacked toilet cleaner, though. By the way, has it ever penetrated the depths of concrete that sits on your shoulder, that a legend was a close friend. My name might be a clue and I suppose you will now deny that he was a legend. You are so pathetic you are laughable.

Chico Flores has been much more a liability this season than Monk ever was.

As Yankee said, do you remember anything? Monk was just BACK UP. Caulker and Ash was our preferred line up. Brendan dropped him from first choice like a hot potato when we hit the Premier League.

By the way, our excellent defensive record in both divisions under Rodgers was entirely due to the possession game we played. Our defence was rarely put under pressure but, when they were, we usually conceded. The plain fact is, that when our defenders were asked to do their own job, they weren't up to it. The midfield and their possession was our first and best defensive line.

By the way, I'm not having a crack at Monk. He's been a great servant but that does NOT disguise that he was a journeyman defender in Premier League terms and nowhere near good enough to play there.

Flores more of a liability? Ha, ha, ha. Get real please.

Messrs Martinez and Rodgers only EVER have complimentary things to say about Swansea City,the Club,and it's supporters.

Unfortunately, there are many on here who denigrate the two of them at any opportunity.

With the exception of a couple of very good games, he's been poor all season.

He's a good player as shown by the first season we need him back on form. And if Monk believes he's the man for the job he'll be out there.

I'm not talking about passion, Valley. No one could possibly criticise Monk for lacking that. But you highlighted "as a journeyman of a player". You trying to tell me that Monk was Premier League quality as a player? Please say you're not.

Martinez stripped the club to further his own ends. We came a distant 3rd to his and Wigan's needs.
Rodgers sneakily levered Joe Allen out of the club going back on his word and scuppered the Siggurdsson deal we had worked long and hard to secure.

Neither give a **** what happens to Swansea City now that they have left us,

...and all the flowery language in the world doesn't change that.

He may had been had he found the right club years before, like Leon Britton. The one who went up wasn't his body was already breaking down on him. Nonetheless we kept alot of clean sheets and 1's for the 3 months Caulker was out. Not bad aye. Harry Redknapp wanted Brendan Rodgers as part of his England coaching set up if he could get Garry Monk to play like Baresi. :cheesy:
 
If you're happy being patronised by the pair of them good for you.
Laudrup achieved more than either of them with us.
 
Rangel looks like he could be on the way out the signs are there as with Leon Britton too are you going to say they're not good players too?

They haven't seen much of Super G Monk's training methods yet though mind. <peacedove>

Rangel and Britton have been key players in the Prem era...there's a big difference between them and Monk.
