Wonder if you can get odds on Hamilton's total points score this year beating the combined Ferrari points score...

Nah. Pure speculation. I mean, I’m sure he’s a bit pissed off, and rightly so, but he’s not daft.

Well he's a ferrari junior driver, so I imagine there's all sorts of clauses included with getting that which preclude him from jumping ship yet.

Interesting but he is having teething troubles. He can either jump or consider it a challenge to mould the team round him as Vettel may only have a couple of years left. Although young he could help transform Ferrari back to winning ways. So I very much doubt he will jump, hopefully Ferrari won't push him as they haven't really had any young drivers recently.

I think once Hamilton calls it a day Mercedes will have a lot of voicemails

If they pushed him, they’ve lost the plot even more than we suspect! Best talent, along with MV, since Hamilton. Perhaps could become better.

That wasn't destruction, more observation that Monaco doesn't have passing places. I think he said the Lewis whinging made the race seem more of a race than it was, even a memorable one, albeit it was fiction.
Lewis is not stupid, somewhat controversially I think he is managing his legacy. If you just wonder about your legacy in years to come, how your efforts will be remembered even within your lifetime, managing that image becomes part of your doing. He is the fastest racer (?) in the fastest car, he has mental capacity left to consider his legacy. He is the most successful british driver we have had, he knows he will be talked about for all of his lifetime and beyond, his image and supposed legacy is all he has to worry about now. He is playing to the audience. His gaffe at the Sports Personality Awards was just that, except he got that one wrong.
Call me cynical if you want.

    *coughs*

bullshit cos his just really is a whiny little **** who doesn't think and then you get the team snow job after to reinforce it cos they have to soothe his massive ego.

but... in the end yes patently the fastest driver in fastest car and that's what's always won championships.

if he shut his mouth for 5 seconds at times he's be even more loved

I wasn't admiring him for his comments, I was suggesting there may be something more than whinging driving his comments, making the job seem harder, so to speak, thereby making him even more great. I am suggesting he could be very calculating. Among celebs, they must talk about 'how they want to be remembered'. I was actually being somewhat cynical.

If the rumours of Vettel quitting at the end of the season turn out to be true .

Could Hamilton really turn down the chance to drive for THEM ?

Either way if SV walks , interesting drivers market .

Stroll to Ferrari for a start :)

It would cause trigger chaos <laugh>

You’d have Jos Verstappen using it as a bargaining chip on Red Bull pressuring them to get a title winning car, Danny Riccs agent would be in touch, Hamilton would have an opportunity for a unique chapter in the latter part of his career (first ever Black Ferrari driver?).

If Hamilton went it would really put Mercedes under the spotlight in choosing a new star driver.

Would Alonso come knocking for a two year deal? One last attempt at a world title for the Scuderia?

Ferrari would probably re hire Kimi to be honest, they clearly cant handle drivers unless it's a clear 1st and 2nd driver.

Meanwhile let’s all be thrilled that Renault plan to “clear the midfield” with French GP updates.

I’d love them to do that and also really crank up this engine but sadly I don’t think Cyril Aventgotaclu has hit a deadline in his entire term as team principle.

Looking forward to him talking about the “big step” they are making during the winter 2019/2020 <laugh>

Were is this rumour coming from? I watched Channel 4 coverage and in the lead up to the race Vettel talked about retirement, but I assumed he was talking end 2020 when his contract is up and I guess depends on le Clerc performance. Lewis is contracted to 2020 with Merc, I think he may retire himself at that point. I think we will see both Seb and Lewis retire then. Lewis is not interested in a 24/25 race calender. Fortunately there is a some good talent coming through. I want to see a title fight between Daniel and Max. Please let that happen.

Interesting and I hope they do but of course, the other teams will be introducing upgrades no doubt. Frankly, if they have had these problems, little differentiates them from Williams in terms of factory delivery capability, albeit design might be better.
