If on the night more high profile players from Utd had taken part in the humiliating defeat would they have got "the mk dons effect" or would they have been forgiven and excused Ruff?

True, but also if we'd paid Pogba a bit more he'd still be here. And picking up £70k a week at the age of 21 doesn't seem to have killed his ambition one bit. Some players just don't have the ability or mental strength to make it at the top, wages or not.
