I don’t believe that anywhere in my post that I specifically mentioned you personally doing any such thing, did I? And I’m not going to trawl back through thousands of posts to find out one way or the other.
My reply consisted of my thoughts on the breach of another member’s personal details.
Some people seem to not get how the internet works. Regardless of using a pseudonym on one site, if you have publically available info elsewhere on the internet (and most people do in one way or another) then posting real information about yourself on said forum can easily lead to your other information available on the net.
If anything this should just be a lesson to people to have proper internet security and to keep personas separate regardless of what name you are using on different sites if you don't want them linked together.
On the other hand I also agree that people shouldn't out each other and share personal details if others don't want you to.

Nobody has shared any of HIAG's personal details. They've alluded to the fact that they know who he is.

Yeah I've not seen anything that suggests he has actually been outed, just that a couple of people have found out.

Exactly this. All that has happened is that people have alluded to the fact that they know who he is. They haven't shared any of his personal details at all. In my opinion the silly **** asked for it with his taunts of 'the truth would destroy' you, as it was just begging for somebody to tell him that they actually knew the truth.
There are people on here who have had their guts spilled on this forum and had links to their facebook page, where they work, home address etc shared and they've ended up with taxis and pizzas arriving at 3am etc. That is out of order imo. Telling HIAG that we know the fantasy life was bullshit isn't.
It’s a ****ish thing to do, firstly. And secondly it can quite possibly compromise the site. If people feel that there are trolls on here who will go searching for and then post personal information.

As I've said, there is nothing about this forum that would reveal your personal details unless you'd already shared them. afcftw is right, too many people willingly share personal info across all sorts of public forums and then cry about it when somebody makes reference to it. Simple lesson, if you don't want something shared, then don't share it yourself

That's not this site though, that's the internet as a whole. It doesn't matter what site you are using you are open to the same thing. I think it's a little naive not to realise that. It's why people should think about what they share on the internet and where they share it.
