Some have it, some don´t
And some, unbeknownst
Just have a knack, spoken of old,
So valuable too
In whatever they do
Where all that they touch turns to gold

And if managing men
Was your only yen
Just think with Midas on your side,
How far you could go
And what you could show
In between each incoming tide

Now Lambert, I´d say
Fits, in every way
With one who has been just so blessed,
Players who some
Thought would be undone
Somehow keep on passing the test

And that seems to me
To just be so key
For these are not Messi´s and such,
Just ordinary lads
With no airs or fads
Which belief has helped improve so much

The other effect
Where players get wrecked
By managers, we know that too,
With no chemistry
Or respect, we see
So often teams drop out of view

And even those bought
For millions, who ought
In some people´s eyes, with their play,
To revitalise
A team from demise
Still need a boss who knows what to say

We´ve recently seen
A Sunderland team
In a relatively short space of time,
Under Martin O´Neill
Find an even keel
Where before not a great deal would rhyme

And I wonder now
If Mark Hughes will wow
Those West London Hoops into life,
For without the gift
Of Midas, the lift
They expect, could just lead to more strife

But suffice to say
I still bless the day
Paul Lambert´s team knocked us for seven,
Appointing him then
And there, was a gem
It turned into a match made in heaven. OTBC

You´re very kind Maestro, it was actually Hughes´ appointment that got me thinking, not sure that he´s got the necessary turn-round-ability, even with all the Fernandes money, but we´ll see.

Hi RBF bor, I rate this your best effort yet, but the Midas touch ?

Prefer PL with human frailities, being able to turn everything into gold might sound ok but imagine if you had that curse you could never touch your love ones.

Yep, I know you are generalising re: Midas, PL certainly has the knack of getting the best out of his players.

Afternoon NORKIE, I thought it seemed pretty apt, if not ( according to the Oxford English Dictionary) technically correct. In fact, in a way it is, because he´s certainly making us plenty of money. :)
