Not even there last season, when we first signed him I heard from a few people how they were happy to be rid after he had such a poor year last season.

I've read that before. That's the equivalent of Ashbee or Windass commenting on something happening here and taking their word over the collective thoughts of this forum.

Widely regarded as their star player, according to the Beeb.

And to be honest, I probably would value Ashbee's view over the collective thoughts of this forum; there's some right **** posted on here lately.

You can try all you want but your desire to defend him is bizarre.

And if Silva starts him against Bournemouth will I still be bizarre?

Yes, because I'm not sure what your point is? As I've said repeatedly if he starts Marshall and he plays better that's all that matters.

My point is, if Silva starts him then that's two different managers disagreeing with the consensus on this forum, which would certainly suggest that on a fans' forum website, a consensus isn't necessarily correct.

In one game. Silva started Jak in his first game managing the club, when everyone else who played was essentially first choice, but you're ignoring that?

As I've said I suspect Marshall will start against United and Silva will judge which one he prefers from there. If Marshall has a good game then I don't blame him for picking him.

I'm ignoring it because it's a cup game. As our backup, Jak has started almost every cup game. In fact, it's probably the case at most clubs that starting a cup game is the sign of a backup keeper. Whoever starts against Bournemouth is clearly our first choice and will almost certainly start the vast majority of games for the rest of the season. I can't see him changing who our first choice is because that hardly ever happens. I know people think we're this bizarre situation where the backup is so much better than the first choice but I don't think it is.

    If you say so.

I can think of a time it happened at a side fighting relegation around this time of the season.. Bruce dropped McGregor when he was out of form for Harper.

Have to wonder why he picked EJ on Saturday.
Was he just continuing the previous selection for cup matches or has his goalkeeping coach done his homework

Myhill was dropped for Duke every so often too. Neither lasted very long though.

Only because McGregor smashed his kidney to bits.

    Anyway, Meyler's a good player isn't he?

How am I supposed to know which year you're on about? I'm pretty sure McGregor was never dropped for long apart from due to injuries.

Probably because of the two seasons Bruce only dropped McGregor for Harper in one of them.

McGregor was dropped for the last 7 games of the 14/15 season and was not injured.

I'd be equally happy with Jakupovic or Marshall in goal for the remainder of our League campaign. They are both decent goalies with strengths and weaknesses.
