Ok, something that causes me great anger is the sight of stupid, sheep-like twats wearing Ramones T-Shirts. They don't even know that they are a band, they couldn't name one song! These fashion-conscience morons make me cringe, they really do!!!

Music posers are everywhere. I even knew a person who told me she was an enormous Beatles fan. I told her I thought they got too much credit for their work but I had to concede that Revolver is great. She said, 'Who are Revolver?'.

They are an enormously overrated band but I couldn't hate them, Revolver is too good an album to be hated and there's some good material on the White Album and Abbey Road too.
Tomorrow Never Knows is pretty much the coolest 60s psych song you'll find.
Good album Revolver, easily their best. I'm like you re the Beatles. Overrated but they still did some fine work and therefore are worthy of respect.
Tomorrow Never Knows is a good track and my favourite song of theirs is also on that album but never seems to get mentioned really ... And Your Bird Can Sing.
!Yep, easily their best album and 'And Your Bird Can Sing' is a really great song, gorgeous main riff. Seems we have identical Beatles opinions too!

Looks that way![]()
I thought the Stones were overrated too btw![]()
Have to agree there, as much as I enjoy a lot of their songs I'd say overrated for sure. But in all fairness I haven't listened to their discography as much as I should have done to make that statement so I tend not to make it.
Mozart is also abnormally overrated, sure he penned some unbelievably brilliant music but he is held by the general public as the go-to person for musical genius when there were far more innovative, prolific and genuinely gifted composers. But try telling a Mozartian that you think he's overrated and you'll see quite an amusing array of facial expressions in the space of a few seconds.
I'll confess to not having heard much of the Stones as well. What I have played I didn't particularly like so I stopped trying. They did some great stuff i'll admit, Paint it Black springs to mind but nothing to bowl me over.
I've never been to excited by Mozart either. I prefer the eastern european composers mostly. Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Sibelius and Kachaturian mostly. Probably because they were the ones they I first listened to.
Yeah I'm absolutely an Eastern European and Russian admirer more than the west, with some exceptions of course. Prokofiev is one of my very favourite Russians along with Shostakovich, Schnittke and Scriabin. Khachaturian is pretty great too.
As for Mozart, it always annoys me that he gets as much recognition as, or perhaps even more recognition than, Beethoven. A guy who on several occassions completely reinvented countless major forms of music from the String Quartet to the Symphony and also unlocked the true potential of several instruments especially the Piano and Violin, releasing them from their heavily structured form and gave them the real ability to express an enormous range of emotions. Mozart simply can't compare when it comes to the impact on music, but you'll still get idiots harping on about 'The Mozart Effect' all day long, obviously!

The Beatles are another band that people often pretend to like. God knows why
The worst thing about it is it makes people who wear Ramones shirts and actually like the band look like knobs i.e Me.

Ooooooh dear that is terribleThe Beatles are another band that people often pretend to like. God knows why

I have to admit that my knowledge of classical isn't huge and I've had debates on the subject as most of my mates aren't at all interested but I do get the impression that Mozart is the darling of the classical snobs. I prefer Beethoven personally but must admit that I didn't realise the effect that he had had on classical music.
For me it just started with liking the theme tune to a tv show called the Onedin Line. Found out it was the Adagio from Spartacus by Khachaturian, got a copy and started listening.![]()

!Babybells. They never come out of that waxy red stuff intact. Annoying.
