Manchester United monitor Jack Butland with a view to possible summer move for Birmingham keeper Sir Alex Ferguson is considering a summer move for Birmingham City’s £3 million-rated goalkeeper, Jack Butland. In the frame: United are interested in the promising young goalkeeper Jack Butland 7:00AM BST 10 Apr 2012 Ferguson, the Manchester United manager, sent his goalkeeping coach, Eric Steele, to make a personal check on Butland in Cheltenham’s 1-0 defeat at Rotherham on Monday. Butland, who made his debut for the England Under-21s last year, is on his second loan spell with League Two Cheltenham and has also been regularly watched by Arsenal this season. The 19-year-old has represented England at every level up to the under-21s but is still yet to make a first-team appearance for Birmingham. Chris Hughton, the Birmingham manager, is expecting serious interest in the summer and the club are prepared to sell Butland if they receive a suitable offer. Queens Parks Rangers must base their appeal over Shaun Derry’s sending-off against Manchester United solely on his challenge on Ashley Young and not whether the England winger was offside at the time of the incident. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ssible-summer-move-for-Birmingham-keeper.html
10/4/2012: Lecce's highly-rated Luis Muriel is wanted by the Reds and Arsenal, as well as a host of Serie A clubs, according to Il Sussidiario. The Colombian youngster is owned by Udinese but the newspaper reckons Sir Alex will focus on 'this fast and technical player to reinforce the attack'. In an interview with RCN Mundo, Muriel revealed: "My agent has made it known to me that AC Milan and Inter have made official offers for me. The only thing I know is that I will return to Udinese at the end of the season. There are some offers though, so we'll see what happens."
He's leaving Schalke in the summer, i think we will try to sign him because it looks like Berbatov will leave and possible Owen as well and that will leave a space upfront and he would add experience to our front line.
Because there will be space upfront like i said in my op, and the manager did try to sign him before we got Owen.
Doesn't mean he will sign. Beside United are looking for players under a certain age and Raul is too old. Also don't think United would pay the wages he would want. Finally there is no evidence that SAF is looking at him.
Thats different. Scholes knew the club, English football, SAF and the players. Raul doesn't know the club, SAF or the team and hell I'm not sure he can speak English. I'd be shocked if Raul signed. Completely shocked. Not the player we need. We need younger players. Either sign a young promising striker or promote Keane from the reserves. Raul would be a back ward signing.
I really doubt Raul will sign, and to be honest I would much rather see some of our reserves moved into the first team before even considering a move from a player of that age that has never played in the English leagues before.
Maybe but we don't need that impact if you understand me. Need a young striker to compete with Rooney etc not someone like Raul whose presence would only hinder the development of younger players. Totally counterproductive if you ask me.
Taffy, whatever gets you through the day mate. If you'd like to believe this then great but in reality Raul is not going to sign for United as he is 35 and this is not remotely the same as re-signing someone who in reality had never left having spent his entire life there.
Larsson had played over 200 games in Scotland though, and while that league wasn't nearly as good as the EPL at the time it was probably the closest to it in terms of the actual pace of the game. He also only played half a dozen games for United and was more of an emergency replacement as Saha was injury prone, as was Solksjear who was about to retire, and unlike now when we have Keane and Petrucci as options, we had no youngsters ready to be given a chance in the fist team.
