It says he's human. He also signed Anderson, Miller, Milne, Tiabi and Andy Goram. The only thing I admire about the other two is how they've played a part in Liverpool being a laughing stock. Add kenny and you have the 3 amigos.
Giggs signed a two year contract when he was 32. VDS signed for United on a two year contract when he was 34. I suspect Young will be a squad player this season and he'll be sold next summer. As he'll have two years left on his contract the club will get a half decent fee for him from Villa or Sunderland. It's that simple.
I read your post and replied accordingly. If you are unhappy with the reply, I suggest you go back and look at your own posts. The problem is clearly with you. Nice dig at the end. Not enough that you fail to see the huge irony with your views on Young and Fellaini, you now have to bring matth into it as some sort or dig? Thought you were better than that treble, disappointing.
You're disagreeing with yourself. I posted that football isn't just about stats. You said my statement was bollocks. It's that simple.
After long negotiations they did. The club was very reluctant. And yes he will likely be a squad player. A place which a younger lad could take. Makes it even more pointless. I also think he will be sold soon, probably for pittance though.
Of course, I forgot that you are ITK. Very close to the inner goings on at the club (but not close enough to wangle a match day ticket!). Safe bet that you are a mid to late 90's fan.
It was bollocks because you believe watching a game in a stadium (I've been to many, in all divisions in several countries but thanks) gives you a better insight than watching a televised or recorded match. I simply pointed out that if that was the case, there would be no need for managers to employ people to analyse every detail, keep stats on literally everything or rewatch a match over and over and over.
Close enough? They rang me none stop to buy a season ticket. Had I no found out earlier this year I was going to be a dad, I would have coughed up the cash seeing as I now live relatively close to Old Trafford again. You've just lost your bet.
Is that when they gave you inside info on Giggs and VDS's contract negotiations?! Absolutely priceless!
I'm Sam Allardyce I can't be arsed to read back.. Seems an awful lot of long winded posts.. Would I be right in assuming it's the same debate re young vs Nani the best winger in Europe bar about ten other players??
So let me get this right. You dont read what I've posted bcos your responses show you havent. And your answer to this conundrum is that I should go back and read my own posts? Do you realise how insanely thick that is? I'll make it easy for you mate. I posted a list of attributes that Young demonstrated demonstrated. I'll repeat that bcos it's really important you umderstand. A list of attributes that he demonstrated which is why ppl who actually watched him knew he was playing well. YES we all know he cuts in on his right and that will affect his ability to cross at times but if you watched him you'd see the rest of his game often made up for it. That's why I gave a list of those specific examples. It didnt take away from all those. It didnt stop him holding on to the ball, it didnt stop him seeing a run, reading a pass, his decision making (what I class as a football brain), using his pace and skill to take on and pass players, and also his ability to track back and tackle. So to simply respond by saying "he cuts in over and over again" is not relevant to all those things he DOES do, and did so very effectively that actually made a big contribution to our prrformance and results. I also said when club fans are voting Man of the match performances. Not pundits or sports writers who can sometimes base their MOTM on who scored rather than who actually performed. The game against Preston was a lacklustre affair...until that is LVG brought Young on. So while pundits may have given it to Fellaini for his goal to put us ahead, it was actually Young's performance after coming on as sub in place of Falcao that was appreciated by fans. It was the fans also who voted him in the other games I mentioned. Btw I noticed that you said earlier tbat all the games I posted were at the end of the season. They werent. The Preston game was in February and I only picked a selection. He also played well in the 3-1 win over Newcastle (the irony being in that game he was putting in cross after cross accurately), his performance at Southampton where he defended and attacked brilliantly tbh. He was also the only one at Spurs who looked like doing anything. All of these games were before xmas. So you see, I deal in specifics mate. I look at what the player is actually doing on the pitch and give SPECIFIC examples to justify my view. I have no personal preference to ANY player. I give them credit where I see it. I doubt any of what I've posted will sink in. But at least I've given you the benefit of the doubt in doing so. You pays your money and you takes your choice.
Nah. Club policy of not giving more than a year to over 30 year olds. Well documented under Fergie and Gill.
I also listed Youngs attributes. There's not an awful lot but he certainly puts the effort in. He's fairly skilled and capable of beating his man. He's a safe bet when he's not out of form. All good qualities, for West Ham United or Newcastle United. February is 3 months from the end of the season right? He wasn't the only one who played well against Spurs away either. The whole team was brilliant in the first half and a relatively poor in the second. Sorry to have to correct you yet again, Fellaini was voted man of the match v City by the fans. This comes direct from manutd.com and the clubs officially social media accounts. This alone contradicts your claim that you only deal in specifics as you don't even know which player you are referring too. You fail to see anything wrong with your blanket dismissal of Fellainis contribution yet feel Young deserves praise. As long as this remains your view I cannot take it seriously. Getting the two mixed up is also something to worry about. it's not like they look alike. Of course your reply will state how Fellaini has no attributes and deserved little to no praise for last season but Young, well Young was nothing short of a revelation picking up man of the match awards here there and everywhere. Just so happens that both Fellaini and Young had comparable motm awards last season.
Never heard of that one but do remember it being reported numerous times we were very reluctant to give contracts over a year to players beyond 30. It's obviously changed now, as would be expected.
