Ashley Young still chasing new deal Ashley Young is still battling for a new Manchester United contract as well as a place in Louis van Gaal’s side for the start of the season. Young, who was 30 earlier this month, had his best ever season for the Reds last year with the Dutch manager. But it hasn’t been enough for the club to rush through a new Old Trafford deal to replace the one he signed in 2011 on arrival from Aston Villa which expires next summer. United and Young’s agent are in talks but after impressing again with his first half display against San Jose Earthquakes he admitted his future has not yet been rubber-stamped. “I think a lot of people thought I had it done but I haven’t. It’s in the club’s hands now so I will have to see how it goes,” Young said. Give him a new deal ffs
United are prepared to activate the 27-year-old’s £22m release clause - and Barca manager Luis Enrique admits there is nothing he can do to block Pedro’s departure. “If he wants to go, a club will have to meet his release clause,” said Enrique. “I have talked with Pedro to discuss his situation. I have told him how I think about it and he told me how he feels about it, but I obviously won’t reveal the exact content of the conversation we had.”
As long as it's Official I don't mind. Ronaldo will be linked with us every summer until long after he's retired and opened a botequim in Madeira.
Even the great Zlatan doesn't like JT .......... http://www.skysports.com/football/n...he-face#ooid=F4bzNpdjq12VBk79gVfr4536YYPgqG2j
I think he is on a par with Valdes. Hope we don't need him but if DG leaves then he could deputise. Ive not seen him play often but he can't be that bad if he is No 1 for his country and LVG trusts him. And we know that LVG takes no prisoners...
Young did well last season but at 30, and with most of his United career being dreadful, it wouldnt be the end of the world if he moved on at the end of the season. Saying that, a new contract might help us recoup some of the £18million we paid for him........ well if we cared about net spend like tiny clubs do, then it might matter.
So we give players contracts based on having 1 good season in 3? Doubt such a policy will serve us well in the future. If he continues this season, then he will deserve a new contract.
When does his contract end? He played well when we won the title. He was not good with Moyes but better with LVG. Some can get the best of some players. We've seen that he can do the job so I can't see why we can't give him a new contract. He was under pressure from a £60m player and did well.
Yeh.... no. Young wasnt even that good last season ffs. He couldn't cross, couldn't shoot, could barely pass and did the same thing each and every time he got the ball. What he did do was run and graft.
End of this season I think. He was awful in Fergies last year too. His first season for us was his best. He was unpredictable, scored some great goals and looked a good signing. Compared with Downing, he was on another level. After his first season hes been very very poor until an improvement last season.
