Sports NewsFergie admits he could strangle Man United stars By talkSPORT | Friday, April 6, 2012 Sir Alex Ferguson admits there are times when he feels like strangling his players. Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has stated that if he was a player, he would have punched striker Mario Balotelli by now because of all the scrapes the young Italian has got into. Fergie has never gone that far, but the Manchester United boss admits relationships are not always smooth. He famously cut David Beckham above the eye after kicking a boot at him, and admits his star names can sometimes drive him to distraction. When asked if he ever felt like punching someone, Fergie replied: "Strangle them maybe. "Players can frustrate you. But it is a difficult industry we are in." http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...its-he-could-strangle-man-united-stars-169000
Fergie just said on #mutv that Vidic won't go on pre season tour but will be ready for start of the season
2Fergie: De Gea ability can't be denied Goalkeeper David de Gea's stunning return to form has not caught Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson by surprise. Ferguson spent £18million prising De Gea away from Atletico Madrid last summer, only to see the Spain Under-21 star commit a series of gaffes that ended with him being dropped after a particularly sorry performance against Blackburn in December. It is hard to believe De Gea is the same keeper now he has recovered his confidence after a series of outstanding displays, while his save at Stamford Bridge in February to deny Juan Mata an injury-time winner for Chelsea may not be bettered all season. "I expected him to make a contribution the minute he arrived at the club," said Ferguson. "Since he was a young kid, our homework on the lad has always been really positive. "You can't deny the performance level and ability of someone who can get into the Atletico Madrid team at 18 and win the Europa League. "That is why we went for him. "Even Peter Schmeichel found it difficult coming into the English game, and he was 27. "David made mistakes but we forgive that at 21." De Gea will be in goal for Sunday's Barclays Premier League encounter with QPR, when victory would take United, for a couple of hours at least, eight points clear of Manchester City, who are due to kick off against Arsenal at the Emirates 30 minutes after the final whistle goes at Old Trafford. http://www.espnstar.com/football/pr...82333/Fergie:-De-Gea-ability-can't-be-denied/
Jonny Evans on SAF: "The thing that really stands out is how he turns all the kids that come through the Academy into men."

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed the impact of his side’s mid-season golfing trip to St Andrews. Having been knocked out of both the FA Cup and the Europa League, Sir Alex took the opportunity to take his team to the famous golf course at the end of March. “They’ve done well, the lads, the little trip we had to St Andrews was fantastic,” Ferguson told The Sun. “I didn’t play and I’m glad because there are some bandits at our club. There’s no chance you can win. The players loved it. On the Friday about half a dozen of them had nine holes. “It helped with the unity of the players — it was a good moment for us. It makes you realise when players stay together, they become a team very easily.” United make the relatively short trip to relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night, knowing a win would take them a step closer to their 20th league title. The Red Devils are also set to face struggling Aston Villa in their Premier League run-in, yet Ferguson is refusing to take their opponents lightly, adding: “We are playing teams from the bottom but that doesn’t make them easy.” United’s record against Wednesday’s opponents Wigan has been exemplary, winning every one of their 13 Premier League games against the Latics. Yet despite this, Michael Carrick is adopting a similar approach to his manager, and insists their previous record counts for nothing. “It doesn’t matter what we have done against them in the past,” Carrick said. “What’s important is what we do tonight.” United defender Rio Ferdinand has amassed five Premier League titles in his nine seasons at the club, and he says the thought of leaving the club without winning another title is what inspires him to carry on. “You think it could be your last one or two titles,” added Ferdinand. “It would not be good finishing not winning something http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...guson-hails-impact-of-manchester-uniteds-team
