Taiwo generally had a really good game today, but I note his defensive stance seems to make him prone to nutmegs, and he was on the receiving end of a couple today, as was Adel in the build up to the non-penalty, sending off, offside incident. I hope Man City get stuffed by Arsenal today, giving them nothing to play for on their last game against us.
Hill was tremendous again for us today, Anton had a good game too. Just a shame the officials turned it into a non-event. Time to move on, Swansea on Wednesday. Come on URsssssssss!
Nor would I really, Watford. But the truth is, we've won penalties and the like from players diving too. Taarabt certainly has some 'previous' from the NPC days. Fans can have double-standards. When a player from our team does it, we don't howl with outrage and demand he leaves Loftus Road with his tail between his unsteady legs.
Weve been too honest, I dont think weve got a penalty from diving all season, I remember Mackie being clipped against Citeh and Im sure he would have got a pen if he went over but he stayed on his feet. Taarabt goes over easily but thats not in dangerous positions. Choosing to dive when you have a free shot is scandalous because its premeditated. Theyd rather have a pen and red card than a goal. Thats why the rule should be changed back to just a pen.
This is what the PL has become. The same as in the other top European leagues and the Champions League. Maybe its because of the huge foreign contingent in many squads and/or the money that's at stake? I wouldn't be at all surprised if players have started practicing 'simulation' on the training grounds.
I used to think that but English players have become some of the worst cheaters. In the last week weve had Young, Lallana and Carroll with disgraceful dives with no contact. Even the PFA want the FA to stamp it out because they are embarrassed by it. It should be a 5 match ban for anyone diving and I include players who chose to go down in that even if there is contact. Every match should be assessed after they are played. We should also have video replays for every red card, penalty and goal. People moan about it slowing the game down but wed have taken our FK and got the game underway in less time than it took for Derry to walk off.
Yeah, but we've had the foreign talent around long enough for our boys to start copying. You even see the schoolkids diving and making spurious penalty appeals thes days. Its rubbing off.
Just said exactly the same thing on the So Proud thread. Players cheat, but I don't think officials consciously do in this league. But they are influenced by who is playing, managers, history with the clubs albeit unconsciously. Most of all they can't keep up with the speed of the game. Time for a major change.
Sorry but it's only a myth that the foreign players have introduced diving. English players have dived since the sixties, many of our legends from back in the day would testify to this. It didn't have any name in those days, yes the football was harder but there has always been cheats in the English game.
I think the officials do cheat, every time its the bigger team that gets the benefit. If in doubt give it to the big team. You hardly ever get laughable decisions go against the top 4-6 teams. This guy was from Bolton, now who benefits if we lost today?
I posted this last night. Something must be done about the state of officiating in the game. When you're going into a game with half an eye on the officials and hoping for impartiality then something is badly wrong. At the very least the game is destroyed as a contest with what can mildly be termed incompetence. At the worst it can cost teams money. In our case a crucial amount of money. I don't think the effects of Ferguson's public rants at refs can be underestimated. I'll re-link these from earlier. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...s-put-under-pressure-in-Rooney-swear-row.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ster-United-a-victory-against-Birmingham.html He's a canny so and so is Fergie. I think he gets in refs' minds with this sort of thing. The sanctions applied whenever he does get pulled up for it are so risible as to be worth the risk. The long-term gains of having referees on the back foot when it comes to officiating United games cannot be underestimated. Even leading up to the farce of the penalty there were indications of this, not least when Rooney got smiled at for having a lunge at Diakite. Derry was shown no such leniency, given no such benefit of the doubt and whatever chance we had was gone in the space of a few seconds. Until the authorities man-up and clamp down hard on managers like Fergie playing mind games with referees, then smaller clubs can expect more of the same from officials who haven't got the strength of character to stand up to it alone.
Forgive me Flyer, but that smacks of paranoia. If you really believe officials habitually cheat ( I will go as far as they can't cope and are subconsciously influenced), there is no point in watching the game at all.
I know, as soon as the decision was given I muted the pc and started to watch the TV only keeping half an eye on the game. Id accept they are just bad if it happens randomly but it doesnt, the big teams get every single big decision going. I also think the FA are paying us back for Faurlin, thats the only way to explain the non rescinded Barton red card and I honestly will be amazed if Derry doesnt have to serve his suspension.
Come on guys, let's not sound like Liverpool supporters with their conspiracy theories. My blame lies solely with the refs, Fergie's doing his job and a damn find job at it.
The difference is everyone can see Carroll and Suarez are cheats and the latter is racist. Id love to see someone who thinks that was a penalty and red card and Fulham shouldnt have had a penalty last game. Wed only sound like them if we complained about the Diakite or Cisse red cards.
No I'm not one for conspiracies Norway. From Burnden Aces, an independent Bolton forum. http://www.burndenaces.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6730.10;wap2
