Nope, the turgid football being churned out a few games into this season and the obvious imbalances in the squad, despite MASSIVE investment, plus the lies and bullshit being spouted by the manager were the cut off point.

What was the cut off point for you with Moyes? Was it less than 12 months...?

No you don't pal. If someone disagrees with you you go on the offensive and off topic. Special school, senility etc. It genuinely doesn't bother me as it's playground stuff so feel free to carry on.

    Bingo.

Treble does understand the need for time.
He was willing for Moyes to get it but hes been very much anti van Gaal since last season. Van Gaals had a little longer but had a bigger job, so why shouldn't he be given reasonable time to do it?

That's the point. He does know the importance but his judgement of the man clouds his views. I was the same, and that's why they reply like idiots to me.

People hated the fact I wanted Moyes out too, which also effects several peoples views.

If Stan and Treble are anything like me (not saying they are or aren't), then they would have been fairly happy with LvGs first season.
He got the team passing/keeping possession well, firmed up the defence, bought some great players and introduced some youth players, all whilst getting us back into the top 4.
This season I (and probably them) hoped he would kick on from that, we already had the possession thing sorted, the defence was the best in the league and we had bought some very exciting attacking talent.
Time to step it up and put the fear of God in the opposition, attack and score, look dangerous every time we get the ball.
It hasn't happened and shows no sign of doing so, he has to change or leave it to someone who can use the squad he has assembled.
I get what you are saying about the structure of the club but the team must come first.

I call you arrogant, ignorant, petulant a fan boy etc all of which I believe is true. The special school, senile, writing off a generation stuff etc is just an arrogant, ignorant, petulant, fan boy windmilling because he's run out of cohesive comments to back up his utterly flawed argument. As I said, it's playground stuff. very childish.

Or maybe you genuinely believe I went to a special school, that I'm senile and that all fans of my generation belong to the worst generation!

If so, fair enough and fill your boots!

I think the structure should, for the benefit of the team in the long run. I see the plan, we basically want to emulate Barcelona. From top to bottom.

That has reduced their requirement for a top quality manager And has brought a balance between experience and youth that others can only dream of.

Which is why a short term dip doesn't bother me. I have to be realistic though, ln here I am a lone voice and there's little point defending him anymore as it gets jumped on (yet they are surprised at the response). Like I posted the other day, there's plenty of good things but were passed that now. Pressing will serve is well for years if we continue it, our squad could stay together for decade if we make the right calls. Our kids and potential kids we snap up, will be more inclined because they see United as the place to get the chance. Add the stuff re the acadamy upgrades and things are well set out for the future. Average age of 23, kept DDG happy.... Plenty that he's done that will serve us well for years.

    Spot on.

I believe he still can change things but it will require him to admit that the feelossofee is either bullshit or hasn't worked and he will need to make some brave decisions. So far he's shown no signs that he is anything other than a fraud and a coward.

Even if he turns it around and wins the league next season I don't mind admitting that I will give him limited to no credit as it won't be a job well done, it will be a job done given the time, money and opportunity afforded to him. We hardly lauded Mancini or Pelligrini for buying a title or two.

Hmmm, its possible I have you mixed up with Treble but one, or both have insinuated I was autistic and special. So forgive me if I respond in kind.

If it wasn't you and I have offended you Stan, I apologise. If it was, and I can't remember as you too seem to blurr lines these days, then oh well.

And apologies to your generation. Sorry 70s kids. Keep rocking on

You can't offend me UIR. I'm too old to give a ****!

It was the generation before me that were rocking. I'm more Pearl Jam's Rocking in the Free World than the original Neil Young version.

This is all smoke and mirrors by UIR. I'm afraid it's the same old "going round in circles" with him. The problem is UIR has such a limited view of football - it's not a sport, it's not an art form, there's no skill or technical ability or sense of excitement or teamwork, or imagination or even entertainment which should lead to progress and results. No, his arguments always boil down to the lowest common denominator - the results. Which is fine for him, but he seems to think everyone else has the same thought process as him. Hence why he makes up stuff about other people's opinions. It's also why he's misquoted me and Stan digging up posts that have no bearing on Van Gaal.

In response to what you've just said, I would say, I've never really been bothered about short term success. I would say I've been fortunate enough to have had my fair share of that (success that I could never have dreamed of as a kid 30 years ago, and certainly more than most fans will witness in their lifetime). I would honestly forego success for the immediate future IF we had a manager who could build a team that is defensively sound (as Van Gaal has done to his credit) while building an attacking, entertaining, expansive, free-flowing footballing team that looks like it's heading somewhere. Or at the very least, see the roots or ethos of that beginning to be embedded within the club and on the pitch.

Last season, I wasn't too bothered about the "back 3/5" debacle to be honest. But as the season went on, it became more and more apparent we were going from one extreme (Moyes who was clueless about the importance of possession football) to another extreme (LVG where possession became the be all and end all, at the expense of attacking flair, vision and efficiency). The unimaginative, one dimensional football became worse as the season went on. We had a purple patch Diego where we destroyed a couple of teams, but actually if you look at the end of the season, it's no different to what's happening now. The widespread opinion was his target for the first season was to achieve top 4. He achieved that, but unconvincingly... and the results soon caught up with the performances. The last half dozen games were dire and we crawled over the line. This season, he improved the squad, but the performances remained the same... and guess what, the results are once again catching up with the performances. Stan and I use the term cowardly football. UIR takes this personally. As if outside of his work, LVG can't cross the road without pi55ing his pants. It's not about him personally. It's about what he's embedding on the football pitch. Through his player selections, substitutions, style of football. And you can now see that fear in the players bcos it's coming (directly & indirectly) from the manager. Sorry but as a football supporter that's unforgiveable.. whether you're a United fan or a Sunderland fan. I've always said I support the position, rather than the individual. He is the manager so I'll respect his position. I'd be content to see him see out the rest of his contract, but I really don't have any belief in him achieving any of the expectations I listed above. He'll probably get us achieving top 4 playing painfully dull, unimaginative football but that's about it. But I'll be damned if during the next 18 months I'm going to be polishing his turd like UIR does.

So LVG has your team playing rather dull football. And Ronald Koeman's Southampton's couldn't score in the proverbial whorehouse at the moment. And the link between both? Dutch!!!! There is a Dutchman though, who is bucking the trend. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank!! Any takers in the PL?

The problem is Treble, I do look beyond the result, beyond the performance and the excitement. The one thing I look for, the one thing I hammered Moyes for and support van Gaal with is a plan. Something that goes beyond the result on the pitch. Of course the result is extremely important but it can take second place for a time. There's nothing wrong with that as long as work is being done where it matter's. Right now were a bit all over the place, as a club, not just the team.

After Fergie I couldn't envisage we would collapse. For me it was unthinkable. Others, Smith, Chief for example spent the whole season telling me it was the wrong attitude but my counter argument was always his lack of a plan. You will obviously ask what van Gaals plan is and I have already answered in my opinion. The fact is, we needed huge work because we completely ballsed up Fergies retirement. That's not van Gaals or Moyes fault either. That's the clubs.

We've seen that we can play great and for you this is a negative. Why can we do it occasionally and then play rubbish for 3 or 4 games at a time. For me its expected. Young side, incomplete and struggling for any consistency in both play and confidence.

I was content with last season, mission accomplished.
In the summer when I saw our transfers in, I was really looking forward to this season kicking on and being exciting again.
The fact that nothing has changed and the players are starting to show a total loss of confidence is now evident.
    Something needs to change fast.

Playing strictly to orders and that is stifling the creativity of the team. Same with RK at Southampton by the look of things.

It could be possible that the Dutch style doesn't quite fit as easily in the PL as other leagues. I mean, Barcelona execute it brilliantly and have combined Spanish flair with total football. Arsenal have spent a decade copying Barcelonas style with little success until recently too.

Some of Barcelona's toughest games have come against PL style sides, pace, power, counter attacking football too. Chelsea were a bit of a thorn in their side for a while for example.

What other Dutch managers have we had? Gullet was a while back? Didn't do great did he? Spurs had a guy didn't they? Was he dutch?

Unfortunately UIR this season I have seen no plan, other than to chop and change the team at all costs to get Rooney into the starting line up. The man is obsessed with Rooney who without doubt has been the least effective player all season. Apart from that most of what he's declared as his mythical philosophy has been nonsense. He's dug his own hole with both the players and the fans. Without wanting to labour the point, how can he ever look Herrera square in the eye again and lie about his philosophy? He may be a footballer but it doesn't mean he's thick.

The Premier league is different to any continental leagues (Bundesliga being closest), that is why I am wary of continental managers regardless of reputation unless they have already had a spell here.

My father in law, Southampton season ticket holder, says just that. The longer RK has been there the more he had coached the creativity and life out of the team. He reckons they could get sucked into a relegatin scrap as the players look drained and confused. Familiar.
