I also don't think Suarez coming anywhere near our club's home dressing room is a matter for joking. This board has too much Liverpool chat on it. It's right we consider them, but they are just one of our rivals for top 4 and not even our main one. I could do without it
No need to get arsey with me, pal. If you don't like my threads, don't post on them. What kind of idiot posts on a thread that he doesn't like? You might well not like my thread, or understand my humour, but the last time I checked this was free country, where one is entitled to express one's opinions through the medium of humour. You don't like it, others do. That's how the world goes round. Please, let's not try to turn this board into the kind of humourless desert that the Chelsea board is becoming.
ffs! Have people on this board undergone a humour and intellect by-pass over the last 24 hours? Let's examine the facts, here, shall we? 1. The press has reported that we are considering scuppering Arsenal's bid. Now, whether or not that is the usual media bollocks, nonetheless it is still news and something that affects our club, and is, therefore, a viable topic for discussion on this board. 2. Any one who has read any of my comments regarding Goofy over the past 12 months will know exactly where I stand on this entire issue. 3. Many Spurs fans (the kind that take football far, far too seriously, I dare say) are over-sensitive on this entire issue, and whilst I might find that strange and a little sad, nonetheless I can understand that that is the case. A serious thread on this subject is something that, for those persons, would be too much too take (although I'll never understand, to my dying day, how any sane person could possibly be upset by mere words, but there you go). 4. This thread is clearly a piss-take, written by a well-known piss-taker. This thread is clearly not to be taken seriously. Bearing in mind all of the above-mentioned facts, is it possible to interpret this thread as a humorous way of looking at a touchy subject? I swear, some of you are going to earn us Spurs fans a reputation for being a humourless bunch of bastards, a reputation that has traditionally been reserved for our North London rivals. Please, lighten up, people, and try to make room for a little bit of levity in your lives, even if, at times, you don't fully understand it.
The humour is too dry in this thread, doesn't read like a joke at all. Yes we all know what you think of Suarez but the OP reads like you've changed your mind to spite Arsenal. No one is against banter and fun, I just don't think this one worked. We have a good laugh on here (and you are a good part of that), so let them accuse us of being humourless, I couldn't care less.
And you're speaking for everyone who reads this thread, are you? Firstly, am I not free to change my mind? What law says that I have to stick to any particular opinion? Sorry, but I was under the impression that the whole point of debate was to explore a subject with the intention of allowing one to become fully apprised of all facts in order to enable one to either confirm, amend, or reverse opinions held prior to the debate. I didn't realise that we are all to be taken as being cursed with clinging on to our opinions for eternity. PS: Just to clarity, I have not changed my view. I adopted a juxtaposition viz-a-vis my own views in order to make the thread. That's your opinion, and you are entitled to it. I wouldn't dream of trying to prevent you from expressing it. Just to clarify, are you suggesting that because you are of the view that this bit of banter didn't work that it shouldn't be permitted to be expressed on this board? Some on this board are more prone to be miserable bastards than others; that's the way it is in life, generally. I had thought that, on this board, the balance was more in favour of the humorous than the humourless, and I still cling to the hope that that is the case.
Calm down lads we're all on the same team here. I got it, i think, unless HIAG has actually changed his mind
Thank you, Spurm! Jesus! All I wanted to do was take an explosive subject and the ridiculous notion that we would be signing Goofy and turn it on its head. I thought all of you would have got the joke and joined in with it. Instead, I get a Puritanical backlash and the kind of lynching that hasn't been seen on these isles since the 16th Century.
I believe this is the first time you've mentioned him. People getting upset over words is nothing new, you dickcleaver.
Nope, just me Glad to hear it, wasn't clear to me though. I'm not saying that. I am saying there is too much discussion of Liverpool on here. If banter not working was a cause for censorship, I'd have to go back and delete half my posts. I've already said the humour on here is really good, including most of your stuff. Just saying in my opinion this didn't work, given a debate was already underway. I'd love it if you stuck more to commenting on Spurs stuff, than Pool. I've just had to ridicule a suggestion on the Gooner board that you are Sisu (ludicrous idea btw), but with the amount you write on Pool, you can see where the idea came from.
But, SD, this subject was made relevant to Spurs by virtue of the press article that stated we were going to scupper Arsenal's bid for Goofy. If you read the thread, it isn't about 'Pool, it's about Spurs. I think you've got yourself unnecessarily into a bit of a lather over this thread, and that if you reappraise your views of it, you'll see that, in fact, there is absolutely no harm done by it. Then, you might be a little bit more charitable with me.
I am absolutely unlathered by it, just a calm debate that's all. You must've noticed how much I've written in your support on the Chelsea board, and you are still one of my favourite posters. Just thought this was a rare miss. Edit: it is a subject I am very sensitive on, my world would collapse if we signed him.
I appreciate that. Nonetheless, it is something I have never understood, and never will. If there was ever a time when humans couldn't speak, there would have been no words around for others to get upset over. Come and nick one of my sheep (in pre-acquisition-of-language times), sure, that's something to start a fight over, but looking at my beard in a funny way isn't. No doubt, some neanderthal took offense at that kind of thing, though, and started a tribal spat over it.
What a shock seeing you two turn up, don't miss an opportunity to wum do you? Robbie - that picture one from your collection?
Wait a minute! You mean to say that you appreciate that the views I expressed in my OP are for the purposes of comedy (however mis-judged you might think my comedy was), and are not my genuinely held views? But, surely, PESKIE, you think that everything I say is to be taken at face-value and believed to be my actually opinions on matters? I'm a little confused, here.
