James and Harrison are premier league calibre wingers and Summerville may one day be… who knows. But seems if they don’t top the pl goals and assists charts they aren’t pl standard for some. I have no idea if kp wants to to leave or not, but the club vetoed his move to villa a few years back - not him. He’d be a fool to not be considering his options and whilst I’ve no doubt he’d rather win the champion’s league with Leeds than some other club, I’d be shocked if he wouldn’t want rather play in it than be in a relegation battle.
Think the truth is that if Leeds stay in the prem, Kalvin stays on a new contract that will probably be the best deal at the club. Pointless him signing a new deal right now until he knows where Leeds are playing
Personally, if one team was to win I think it would suit us better if it were Everton. Cut the bottom three adrift.
Head says Everton to win Heart says Burnley to win Can’t stand Lampard don’t like Dyce either Best result would be a draw
turned into a ****er agreed, but what a player...goals,skill,assists what more do you want...would rather have one ****er who got your arse off the seat
The question Victor Orta asked Kalvin Phillips that settled his Leeds United future please log in to view this image Kalvin Phillips has revealed how a conversation with Victor Orta led to him staying at Leeds United. The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer of 2019 when the Whites fell short in the play-offs. Play-off champions Aston Villa were one of the clubs keen to sign Phillips but he eventually stayed at Elland Road, helping Leeds to promotion to the Premier League last season. Phillips admits he was unsure of his future during that period but that a conversation with director of football Orta eventually led to Leeds resolving not to sell him. "There’d been a lot of talk about me possibly leaving and obviously Leeds United’s financial situation," Phillips said to the Times. "It was one of the first weeks of pre-season we came into this room here with Victor and [head of media and communications] James Mooney." Orta asked Phillips what he wanted to do as he laid out the club's position on the matter. “If you want to leave now then tell me and we can sell you," the Spaniard said. "But if you don’t or you don’t know then I’m not going to sell you.” The midfielder admitted he was unsure - whilst he has a lifelong love for his boyhood club, the offers were tempting. He said: "There was Premier League football there and money there that I’d never, ever seen before in my life. "If I do make this move, I’ll look after my family and the heartache of not making promotion was just devastating. please log in to view this image "Do I really want to leave on this note? Do I really want to leave without doing anything with Leeds? I have loads of Leeds family, so they were getting stuck into me, saying, 'You’d better not leave.' "Everything was going through my head." So he told Orta, “I just don’t know." The Leeds director of football then confirmed this indecision would mean he would not look to sell the player. please log in to view this image Eighteen months on and Phillips is now in the Premier League with the Whites and winning England honours in what has professionally been the best period of his career. It means he can reflect on the conversation with relief. He said: “This is my club. I’ve been at Leeds since I was 14, been through so many bad times and then to see the good times is something I will treasure forever."
As much as I would love Frank Lampard's Everton to go down, right now It's in our best interest for Everton to win. We have to keep as far away from the bottom 3 as possible, as soon as possible. A win for Burnley drags us closer to the bottom three. So an Everton win tonight please. Then 9 straight defeats would probably see Everton relegated anyway.
… I’m hoping for a draw. They can all draw as many of these 6 pointers as possible, then none of the fckers will catch us.
Max Gradel Robert Snodgrass Both from league 1 days but probably get in with the exception of Raphinha. Arthur Graham. Albert Johanneson. Lee Bowyer. I'm quite young so don't remember most of the history.
I've been critical of the 'front 4' all season. I've also said that with the exception of Gelhardt that we should be open to offers on all of them. That's not to say they should ALL leave at once though. Regarding the wide positions, I believe Jack Harrison and Raphinha are our best options. Both can be hit and miss with the crossing but they tend to hit good areas more often than James. Their ball control is also better. Stick a proper centre forward up top and their numbers would improve immediately. James for me is an out and out speed merchant and a winger. With the narrower system that Marsch plays I just don't see Harrison and James ever playing the inside position well enough at this level. Neither can really thread the ball through the eye of a needle in tight situations. Raphinha can but I think his head is elsewhere. Ironically the one lad who likes to tuck in and run at people in tight areas is Summerville and I'd give him gametime if and when we are safe to let him get his head around the pace of the PL. The type of players I'd like to see in that position is a Pablo type. Very technical, good vision, can pick a pass, beat his man or strike from range. Get you a solid 7-12 goals a season from midfield. I like Brennan Johnson at Forest, he'd be perfect. Conor Gallagher would be another. We don't need out and out wingers, we need more technical players who can dictate the play for us. That's why I'm open to selling off the front 4 and re-investing the money. I don't know if @Jammy 07 was joking with Costa but to be honest, he probably is a better option than James under Marsch's system.
I have been pondering this too and can't quite make my mind up. I think I woul prefer Burnley to win and keep the gap going between us and Everton.
Agree on that. We - and a lot of PL teams to be honest - don't have a play maker beyond Raph, who can dribble past a defender or two like Pablo could. A MacManaman type of player, though with better finishing and a better ratio than 1 goal in 5 or 6 games.
A draw means even if Burnley were to win their games in hand they'd be two points behind us. Everton have too many points to play with, so personally a draw would suit me.
