    Don Revie said Eddie didn't leave a footprint when he walked on snow and that was the impression you got when Eddie was running with the ball. He was great to watch.

    Wonder what he would have been like on todays pitches because he had to do his trade down muddy flanks and with sanded pitches. Imagine he would have ghosted past players on these pitches..... i was at a function at OT a few years back for Ricky Hatton (yes at OT) and spoke to Big Sam who said that he and his mate Fergie after a few glasses of red argued about pitches and players. Sam argued that Eddie Gray was better than George Best because Eddie did it in slow motion and Best did defenders mainly with pace, but was like Eddie wanted you to see yourselg getting done and then he did someone else

    Not just the pitches, imagine him playing now where every career threatening challenge with no yellow card. He’d score about 60 a season
