Something has been niggling me, & it's not really been picked up on here. We're talking a lot about signings, but there was one critical comment from an ITK & reliable foreign journalist who stated that our pursuit of a player in Europe collapsed because Leeds 'had an internal financial issue'. Can't remember the details, as this must have been a good month ago, but it was about one of our bigger targets & the process was far down the line, then dropped, prompting this comment. I'm just wondering if this 'internal financial issue' is the £20m bill for Fat Kev situation that we're embroiled in. The timing of the Fat Kev 'finding' that we were liable to pay out the £20m came before the above journalist's comment & I'm putting 2&2 together here, perhaps wildly. Wonder if this announcement meant we had to realign our signing plans as we were suddenly short of £20m to spend. Another coincidence is that we appear to have dropped our known targets to Championship prices, rather than top European prices at roughly the same time. It's only a suspicion as I can't prove any of this as we actually don't know what Leeds have been doing in the market, but if I'm right, we won't have a headline-grabbing singing this season.
It was Noa Lang’s agent peed off that he hadn’t been paid a wedge for doing sweet fa. Doesn’t actually mean we were trying to sign Lang but handy for staying in the headlights. Think about it, Cornet or whatever his name is will, apparently, sign for Burnley for £15 million imminently. Imminently, has been the last three weeks since he was last linked with a Premier League club. He has been touted as signing for everyone apart from the “big 6” all summer. Don’t believe me? Google it and guess what, on this very forum he was confirmed as one of our targets a couple of months ago and that was the beginning of this big fight over his signature. Must be one hell of a player to fit the bill for both Bielsa and Sean Dyche. Or........
Thought about this a few times really, but couldnt think what it could be. Keiron Maguire mentioned it too but didnt elaborate, so was thinking its to do with a cash shortfall that shouldnt have occurred? Big Kev will not be settled this year because whoever loses will end up appealing to European Sports Arbitration and then if still not happy will go to the High Court. But agree on the cash thing. Nahitan Nandez talks stopped because of payment scheduling so Leeds wanting to pay not a lot up front and spreading the load etc. Noa Lang deal went quiet and Firpo deal was front end loaded and maybe thats caused the problem. Not wanting to pay much for O’Brian is also weird, this deal if we wanted him should have been done weeks ago when Gallagher knocked us back, and remember Gallagher was a loan deal. So yes we have a cash problem but no idea why
Seems Leif Davies is doing the biz on the south coast as the fans are loving him. He was on the bench last week but forced to come on when Brooks was sent off and he had to defend for his life to make sure Bournemouth held on for a win. Scott Parker praised him for being solid. Last night he was played as a RW and did a good job part of a front 3 in a 2-0 win and fans on twitter raving about this kid who is playing way out of position and fighting for his team. Parker does have a buy clause so we may not see Davies back. Even their fans have started shouting “good Davies good”
