I don't mind that one bit especially as it seems we might have bought him a little cheaper than what he's actually worth...
Thanks, mate Helder Costa? You only won that day because you cheated After watching that I want to sign Joe Gelhardt. He looks a player, mind.
Todays Guardian Did Leeds get beat fair and square? It was a weird strand of coverage that insisted Solskjær had somehow outwitted Bielsa, even in some quarters that Bielsa needed to be replaced if Leeds are to kick on. (They finished ninth last season with 59 points, the best performance by a promoted club for two decades). A Bielsa meltdown is possible; they do happen and he has never managed a fourth season at a club. There should be some concern that, like last season, Leeds lost by four goals at Old Trafford, insufficient lessons were learned, even if Bielsa said this was a better performance. But fundamentally, Manchester United’s wage bill is five times that of Leeds. Everton who finished a place below Leeds last season had a wage bill three times that of Leeds. Of last season’s Premier League, only West Brom and Sheffield United had wage bills lower than that of Leeds. To have finished ninth is an extraordinary achievement and nobody should think to slip back three or four places this season would be a failure. Modern football is starkly stratified and although teams can often defy financial logic for a time, to move up a tier is incredibly difficult. There is still a tendency to talk of a Big Six in English football and while it is true six clubs last season had a weekly wage bill in excess of £2.5m, it is also true that within that grouping there are three with clear advantages: Manchester City (who had kept their wage bill relatively low, although if they do add Harry Kane to Jack Grealish that would clearly change) and Chelsea because their funding is not reliant on footballing success, and Manchester United because of the legacy that has allowed them to attach their name to a preposterous range of products across the globe.
Just throwing this out there, but I get a feeling something is about to happen in the wing department. My logic is: we loan out Leif Davies and now looks like Huggins is going out as a sale or at least a loan. Poveda also looks like hes being moved out, so 3 wing specialists who can play wing back and also a right side winger who can play left too. Phil Hay has mentioned in the past that Villarreal are chasing Costa and his name cropped up again earlier with Hay saying if a winger comes in Costa goes to Spain. So we do seem to be clearing out some flankers?
Its not difficult to outwit someone when you know EXACTLY what they are going to do! A Millwall fan could do it
Looking like Poveda, Huggins Gotts and Hosannah are all on their way out within days. Seems Blackburn, Coventry, Blackpool or all interested in Huggins even Though Sunderland think they have a deal. I guess much depends on the club, do they want to sell him or loan him to the Championship
Knowing what we are going to do doesn't mean you can stop us doing it, hence the reason we won so many games last season and the seasons before that under Bielsa!
Went to the Old Peacock yesterday to pay for my parking season ticket. They've got a new indoor can bar, selling their own specially made lager. The bar is small, & as you come in the front door, the bar is directly behind the wall facing you as you enter. Nothing particularly earth-shattering about this, but you haven't seen the £3 cans yet. Only available in the Peacock & online....
We were so far off the pace last Saturday it was unreal. We're talking basic fitness, stringing together three passes, not having a clue what to do when your leading scorer gets isolated (which is now happening more and more). If we beat Everton at home it will go a long way to repairing the hurt. Watching the inept performances of pre season and how we played last Saturday they were woeful. They shouldn't be paid for last week! Remember what Bielsa said though in his post match interview with BT Sports 'This is not just a blip'.
What you’re saying means Bielsa is a liar. Bielsa told the media that the players are 20% fitter than at the start of last season, simply because each player stuck to their individual programme whilst on holiday, and have all smashed it in training. Therefore your view that they are unfit can onky be wrong mate, unless he lied? I agree with the rest of what you said but think it more likely they were tired getting 20% fitter. Maybe they were overcooked
Anyone know / heard what this alleged “fall out” behind the scenes with Poveda is about? Is he done at the club?
