Lampard didn't with Derby and their's was more, look what that's cost them in the end. When Stoke came down they had a massive wage bill, did them no good. Sheff Wed the same. And there are probably others if I think hard about it.
Going short doesn't work either. Within a couple of passes, Citeh would have the ball back before we hit half way. Meslier loves to feed our right wing back, whether it be Shackleton, Drahah or even Raphinha who kept tracking back trying to get the ball
Back in 18/19 Leeds Utd spent circa £10m on Bamford and Douglas then spent a fortune in loan fees and wages for Costa, Harrison, Baker, Blackman, Izzy Brown, but sold Idaguchi, Ekuban, Viera and transfer loaned out a whole bunch of players from Grot, LDB, O’Kane, Huffer, Dalby, Saiz, Anita Sacko, Cibicki, Pearce and a shed load more like Felix. the following season we shelled out again on loan fees and wages for Eddie, Harrison, Costa, Big Kev, Ben White, Meslier and brought in Kiko on a free. Loan fees are big and the players wages are also big for players from Chelsea and Wolves. I think we balanced the books well but loan fees are classed as wages so the wage bill is inflated before you start. Loan players have been the spine of our promotion because we couldnt afford to buy them at the time
Orta has signed and loaned some right shyte. In fact orta is the biggest waste of money at Leeds Utd.
I thought Ortas signings were **** then Bielsa came along and won the Championship with them, for the amount they cost they weren’t bad. Since Bielsa arrived I agree the signings have been a let down but are they Bielsa or Orta signings?
what I am saying is what kind of investment? There was very little if any. And the 20m was paid to the players and staff as a bonus and is part of the overall 78m
I agree. It hasn't worked as well this season. We've still had our moments though. Again, we practice a system that requires us to draw teams in and then try and play through them with our movement and passing. That gives us the numbers at the other end. It's high risk, high reward football. It's what we have done (and City and Liverpool) the last few years. I'm just trying to understand your plan of going long? We don't have a Chapman/Fashanu/Quinn type player on the books apart from Edmondson. Who out of our squad can challenge and compete for these long balls? We have a squad of players who can play out from the back. They've proven that they can do it. The fact they aren't doing it at the moment is due to loss of form, injury or something changing in the dressing room. Conceding 7 is abysmal, embarrassing, not acceptable in any way. Changing manager or systems would probably make things worse at the moment. We need a reaction on Saturday. I'm willing to give them a chance at redemption.
What about all those signings orta made for the u23s. I think kiko the clown and hilda costa were his top signings.
Christ no. Leeds were given 20m by the league for getting promoted! I guess the players were rewarded but nothing like that amount.
You just beat me to it, Robbie Gotts and Jordan Stevens a goal each, Joe Grayson playing, son of Simon
Each to their own I suppose. Di dum di doo da ...... or whatever it is I am supposed to finish a paragraph with
