I remember the club said he failed his medical, Cuisance saying he didn't and people on here suggesting Bielsa just didn't fancy him, but if it had been a normal transfer that every other club seems to do, then we wouldn't have been involved, because we don't do simple :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Obviously the main headline will be the final cost if all the hurdles are covered in the next 5 years, however the actual transfer fee will be less than £30m maybe even £25m. Announced tomoz just waiting for Frabizio Romano to confirm

yeh they always talk total contract value as it sounds more impressive. Who knows what the base is and what the payment terms are. Probably be undisclosed, ours generally are.

I’m sure hoffenheim can’t believe their luck, but that doesn’t make it a bad buy.

main concern with high price tags is fans wanting instant returns from a kid who’s obviously a talent but not the finished article.
But hey Leeds fans are a patient bunch <laugh><laugh>

I’m presuming he has some kind of release clause if we get relegated so hoping that the initial amount isn’t very high <ok>

it was a bit of a mystery… he signed elsewhere so passed other medicals. My take was that there was a problem, not one that all clubs would be too concerned about but that he turned up in not great physical conditioning, so maybe a combo.

talented lad, career gone nowhere since so we were probably right.

I remember John Beresford saying that he failed a medical at Liverpool due to have broke his foot 7 years earlier. There were no current issues, just that was enough to put Liverpool off. He then spoke to Keegan at Newcastle, told him about the failed medical, and Keegan replying not to worry, he would pass theirs no issue and he went to play over 150 games for Newcastle.

So as you say Milky, some clubs are probably more strict with their medicals, or look for a medical reason as an excuse not to sign a player, where as others are not as concerned.

I’m sure I remember Pricey being interviewed and he said medicals are important and without names he said if a bone or sinew is not how it should be a more in depth look needs taking plus CT scan. If something looks like it could cause a problem at a future date it could cost the club a fortune in either the player not being fully fit, possible surgery or worse…..

If you don’t want a player, why would you bother to put an offer in and go so far as to have him take a medical then fail him as an excuse not to sign? Surely just not bidding or agreeing a fee is far easier?

An hour in and City are yet to have a shot on target (according to Bet365). Perhaps they'll score 3 after they take KP off<whistle>

Kp hauled ashore after an hour. Certainly doesn’t look a 45m pound player

Not being an owner or coach of a football club, it's a difficult one to answer, but maybe just on meeting the player face to face for the first time, maybe someone just took a disliking to him. Maybe he turned up and showed that he was a total cock. Maybe as doc mentioned they looked at the results of the medical and decided it was a risk they didn't want to take. Maybe he turned up wearing something purple and Radz took advice from Cellino. Maybe the club decided that the price they agreed to pay was a lot more than they should be paying given the medical outcome

In my time I interviewed many prospective employees, that had obviously passed my less than stringent tests of no spelling mistakes on a CV, and able to hold a conversation on the telephone, but on meeting them for a formal interview have known straight away that I won't be employing them, without being able to give a definitive reason, other than just having a feeling, before conducting the actual interview

Dominic Matteo failed his Leeds medical. Ridsdale noticed Matteo upset, and asked him what was wrong. Matteo told Ridsdale he had failed his medical. Ridsdale told him not to worry, they were buying him for the long term.
